Thanks.
I got “Mumble mumble mumble Mediterraean (mumble)” out of it. Despite several replays. And yes dear, I am wearing my hearing aids.

I worry that the Republicans will use this and the New Orleans attack as their Reichstag fire.
Obviously nobody cleared this commercial with Creative:
Dr. Greta Guttman: Before the war, when I studied with Edler in Vienna, we postulated that what Freud called the “death wish” is as powerful in life as those for sexual reproduction, and physical sustenance.
Don Draper: Freud, you say. What agency is he with?
Stranger
The driver was an active duty Green Beret
I did not see that coming.
Are we sure he died in the explosion? And not, say, some period of time before it?
Wait are people trying to give Musk some sort of credit for saving the building now? Man his fans are certainly passionate.
Some people seem to think the CT allowed less collateral damage than another/any other vehicle would (I’m not sure it did anything any ‘better’ than another open-back pickup would have done, but … Idunno. If memory serves, this might be one that @Tripler could speak to).
Musk is also getting credit for ensuring that law enforcement had prompt access to the Tesla charging station information that aided in tracking the movements of this vehicle.
O I see Elon is actively pushing that narrative out right now and conservative channels like Washington Examiner are gladly propagating.
I see why it’s here now, so proceed.
Apparently he was very patriotic and Pro-Trump. Curious how his supporters keep being involved in fatal violence. Assassination attempts and so forth.
I wonder if he was planning to do some sort of fireworks show and something went awry.
BBC are reporting he had a gunshot wound to the head. So it’s not sounding like an accident.
As the kids say, the whole thing seems “sus.”
Now that I’ve stolen it, I’ve made a meme of it.
Not original to me:
Congratulations to Musk for making cars so bad that no one can tell if a car bomb went off or if the car did that itself.
whoa. that is very unexpected. a green beret, wow.
Awesome!

That’s really not how explosives work. There is a reason why bombs made with low explosives like black powder are put in sealed metal pipes. It allows for pressure to build before the vessel fails. Saying it’s safer because it was in a CT is like saying a pipe bomb is safer than a bomb make out of a cardboard box.
The reason why there was less collateral damage is because it was a shitty bomb. It used commercial fireworks as a major component of the explosive. From the video it was obvious that the initial explosion blew a lot of that material out of the truck so it exploded relatively harmlessly on the street. It wasn’t contained in a way that allowed overpressure to build. The sudden overpressure from the explosion is what causes much of the damage.
I’d be curious how/if that news source verified that the guy was actually a green beret. Just because he told his family that doesn’t mean that it was true.
That said, how much training in from-scratch bomb making are those guys actually liable to receive? Knowing how to place C-4 isn’t the same thing as knowing how to break out the beakers and go all Breaking Bad on some chemicals.
Bravo!
