I have about 3 of them on my face right now. 2 at the jawline one on my cheeks and yes thats how big each of them are on my face.
I see people talk about cystic acne and how you can’t really see the head… but isn’t this cystic acne? I hear ppl talk about how they have that nasty cystic acne thats under the skin. Is this under or not under the skin? Assuming there is no whitehead on the picture, would this be under or not?
Because when i think cystic acne/pimple, this is what i imagine ppl mean. But then i hear ppl say its under the skin and doesn’t form a head and you can’t pop it. So does this picture have a head? Can this be popped? If it doesn’t have a whitehead here… does that mean no? I’m very confused at the type of cystic acne there is.
Does anyone who have cystic pimples like this tell me what they used that actually works on something like this?
I’ve heard Accutane works well. And although there are health risks, most of the kids I’ve talked to say they had no major problems, and the minor discomfort was well worth it.
That picture looks more like a boil/skin abscess to me.
Just use google image on “cystic acne” and “skin abscess” and you’ll see it looks much more like an example of the latter than the former.
Talk to your doc. You don’t want to mess around trying to pop skin abscesses, or even cystic acne that is as large as all that. Manipulating/improperly lancing a skin abscess can lead to systemic infection, and even loss of face (and not in the east asian sense).
I was on Accutane for a while, many years ago. Yes, it cut down on my chronically oily skin, but I got a case of teminal chapped lips. I mean I’d go through a few tubes of Chapstick every day. Like most other things, it’s a trade-off.
Is it time for me to re-link to my Epic Pimple Story again? You know, the one where I had to have emergency surgery, they power-washed in the interior of my face, and I had purulent foaming grossness leaking out of my face for a couple weeks?
I strongly recommend seeking medical help from a competent professional before things get to that point. If you’re having skin problems see a dermatologist.
In the mid 80s my high school boyfriend had terrible, terrible cystic acne. It was really sad–he had huge scars and was covered with huge painful pimples. He took Accutane for 6 months (I think, could’ve been longer), suffered through the various side effects, and appeared to be cured. I don’t believe I ever saw him with a breakout again.
Every other treatment he’d had was ineffective, but of course that was quite a few years ago so I’m sure there are new treatments available that are worth looking into.
