This sort of thing is what you get when you try to run a message board like a fucking quilting bee. The catty old bags get their leeway, everyone else gets spanked for being fresh.
Considering I’m trying to fight a foreclosure on my house, I really don’t have the money to spend to buy another computer to replace the one I sold to help keep the electricity on. Sorry, but I’m funny like that. As to getting out to use one, the spousal unit is in constant need of care and I can’t leave the house at the moment. I would’ve included all this information in the OP if I had realized it was important. Regardless, if we can now move past my pity party and simply thank Baal for their help. If more is required, I’ll do what I can to right this egregious error tomorrow. As usual, I appreciate any help from TPTB if they choose to drop by.
For the same reason he never gets any mod notes. Special protection. There is no way anyone else could post the way he does and not get told to knock it off.
If you’re limited in what you can do with TapaTalk, why not just use a regular browser on your phone to do the Dope?
Not sure if you’ve got an iPhone or Android, but the Opera Mini browser is available on both, and at least on Android, it’s very good. I’ve tried pretty much all the browsers on Android, and for some reason Opera Mini is the one that works the best with the board, IME.
It is not a requirement of this message board that registered members or guests own a computer. I can think of at least one very long-time and much respected Doper who for years posted from the public library.
This is ridiculous. If he is so fucking bad at being a junior mod as everyone claims, it should be easy to dig up examples in the last month. He certainly wasn’t a mod in the last month. Hell, I’d wager it’s safe to look back to, say, June, without worring if he really was a mod and just forgot his mod tags. That takes no actual looking up of when he retired.
That’s not a requirement on anyone else on this board. I think some people are still hung up on him because of when he was a moderator, and some people are hung up on him because his defense of the mods sometimes goes to clownish levels. But I’m still looking for actual examples of him breaking the rules.
Closest examples given, and they are not junior modding in my opinion.
MeanOldLady makes a comment that twickster is hate-filled and vile, and does so in a hate-filled and vile manner. Czarcasm points out the irony, and the location of the comment in ATMB.
This is the closest to junior modding. MeanOldLady replies about the relevance of her remarks. Czarcasm replies that they could have the conversation without the tone of the BBQ Pit. It is very similar to a comment that a moderator might make as an instruction. It is also within the bounds of what one member might tell another about their opinion on how the conversation should continue.
The rest are whines from the peanut gallery.
He does not have the power to close the thread, or he could have. Rather, he was facetiously trying to get people to see the problem was solved, but he knew the thread would continue for numerous pages of continued bitching. Not junior modding.
Not examples of Czarcasm junior modding, just people whining about him.
It’s a helpful comment from a member on the best way to get the mods’ attention and get approval for a thread. I’ve made similar comments. I suppose, he could phrase it slightly differently since people are overly sensitive to his posting style - he could have said “It is better to PM mods for this kind of thing” or something instead of “You should…” since the second comes off as more of an instruction. But there’s no threat of sanction there, just a helpful instruction.
Maybe that is something he could take under advisement - consider that his remarks not come off as instructions. But it’s going to be hard to get him to care when so many people have such a hard-on about him.
So the answer seems to be “no” with regard to the junior modding.
Yet a lot of people seem unhappy with his responses, especially in this forum. Perhaps czarcasm needs to heed rule #1 a bit more?
He gets away with junior modding, quite regularly. I see it often. It’s wrong to imply only the OP sees it.
That said, I doubt it’s going to change. It was irritating me, for a time too, I thought they’d say something to him privately, but it never got any better. Then I realized I was anticipating something that’s never going to happen.
I think you’ll just have to accept that he’s always going to get a pass. That’s just how it is.
Leaving aside examples of junior modding for the moment, we’ve show actual examples of personal insult: that ‘pot’ remark. Perhaps you would care to explain why he didn’t get a Warning for that.
And there are many other examples of similar misbehaviour, where he gets away with stuff that would get anyone else Warned.
I don’t think what Czarcasm does in this forum qualifies as junior-modding, mostly because he doesn’t give instructions or pretend to speak with authority. His self-appointed role is more like a volunteer gatekeeper and advocate for the status quo. Whenever someone starts a thread critical of the administration or complaining about the board functions, they are invariably met by Czarcasm touting the party line. It’s understandable that it often rubs people the wrong way. Hell, I don’t know why tptb won’t simply ask him to moderate this forum: he really seems to enjoy answering questions.
Having said all that, I don’t have any problem with him as a poster in other forums. He comes across as reasonable and good-natured in other threads.
