I would really love it if people would STOP posting ways to circumvent copyrights and laws to my threads, and getting them locked down. (Exhibit A)
If you really want to “help,” email me or something. I’ll probably ignore it, because I’m the world’s worst pirate anyway. But at least my thread will be open.

My fault. I was planning on posting one more time in the thread–explaining why it was closed–but then the phone rang, real life got in the way of the virtual one, etc…
At any rate, chaoticdonkey, even without Aquafina’s post the thread would have been closed, anyway. I certainly appreciate you outlining in your OP that you were looking for legitimate software, but the SDMB can’t verify whether the software coming to you would be legit; so, we err on the side of caution and choose not to act as a middleman for what could be illegal software.
ETA: I’ve updated that thread with the reason why I closed it.
Well, regardless, I’m now the happy owner of a (2nd) legal copy of Windows XP, since I couldn’t execute my wonderful plan from before.
I’m now busy getting all of my software reinstalled on it, and I even managed to install windows on the right hard drive! (I was very paranoid that I’d install it on my 200 gig instead of 80.)
