DACA/Dreamer hypothetical (would you take a "fugitive" Dreamer into your home?)

You are really stuck on the “Trump is Hitler and this is Nazi Germany” stuff arent you? No, the Dreamers are not the same as the jews, dont you get that?

So there is no compromise other than your idea of let them all stay?

Is there any hope for compromise?

Likewise you seem to be stuck on the idea that “Dreamers are criminals” idea.

No, I was offering a compromise to help out the good ones.

You seem to think you personally get to decide who is good and who is not in a situation that is far from black and white.

It is an absolutely preposterous equivalency and I try very hard every day to not to give credit to the idea. This struggle, and most of our discussion really, is its own thread.

But to try & get back on the rails with the OP, the hypothetical boils down to: If They start rounding up DREAMers and deporting them, would I actively block those efforts. My answer is an unequivocal “Yes” because in that case I believe the situation has grown so close to that absolutely preposterous equivalency as to be indistinguishable. I realize that even now with the events in Longbeach, WA it’s probably unlikely death camps are involved. But my conscience can’t afford to risk believing that.

No. I’d probably lose my law license and be in a position where I couldn’t help anyone very much again.

What if we offer a work permit to those who:

[ul]
[li]are under 31 years of age as of June 15, 2012;[/li][li]came to the U.S. while under the age of 16;[/li][li]have continuously resided in the U.S. from June 15, 2007 to the present. (For purposes of calculating this five year period, brief and innocent absences from the United States for humanitarian reasons will not be included);[/li][li]entered the U.S. without inspection or fell out of lawful visa status before June 15, 2012;[/li][li]were physically present in the United States on June 15, 2012, and at the time of making the request for consideration of deferred action with USCIS;[/li][li]are currently in school, have graduated from high school, have obtained a GED, or have been honorably discharged from the Coast Guard or armed forces;[/li][li]have not been convicted of a felony offense, a significant misdemeanor, or more than three misdemeanors of any kind; and[/li][li]do not pose a threat to national security or public safety.[/li][/ul]

Is that a reasonable compromise?

If they did all the chores and allowed me to call them “Consuela”, sure.

If this was supposed to be a joke, it’s a very, very poor attempt at one. And if it wasn’t supposed to be a joke…

Either way, warning issued for trolling.

Wow, 31 posts in 15 years, and that’s your contribution?

Let’s not sidetrack this thread any further. That goes to all posters. Thanks.

Yes. Is that the current law?

It is the bones of the DREAM act, yeah…
