D'Addario Humidipak/Humiditrak System

Anyone have any experience with these products? I recently bought a new Taylor guitar and figured that I’d better start humidifying my guitars. At the end of November I bought the Humiditrak system. For about a month the bluetooth device never read above 43% humidity. I figured that this was close enough to the recommended 45-55%. It didn’t last a month. So I ordered a new set. Brand new I’ve not seen it go above 39%. I’ve googled myself silly trying to find either: (1) A related music gear forum where other users have had similar experiences; (2) Any information from D’Addario, or Boveda who I guess manufactures it mostly for Cigar humidors). Of course I can take the time to call customer service, but before I do so… anyone seen this before? At this point it seems like a crappy system, but maybe I’ve just been unlucky. I would tag Wordman, but it’s my understanding that he is no longer posting on this board. So now I turn to the Dope.

I bought my first Humidipak system in November (also in response to getting a new Taylor). The store told me that one set of packs lasts two to four months, slightly less in winter and summer when indoors will likely be drier.

I’m not impressed. I have quite a few acoustic guitars, and I’ve always gotten by fine with low tech humidifiers. The Bluetooth device seems like overkill. I think I’ll go back to the Dampit.

I use an Oasis humidifer for my round-hole acoustic (in the case), and dampits for my two f-hole guitars, which have no cases. A room hygrometer keeps me informed of the RH. Simple, and effective, it seems.
