In this Newsweek article, it says that the Daily Show and the Colbert Report will be coming back January 7 without the striking writers. It doesn’t say how the shows will be different, and I’m sure something could still change before January 7, but I still thought it was exciting news. The shows obviously won’t be as good without the writers, but it’s still better than nothing in my mind. Forgive me if this news was already posted and I just missed it.
Thank the Lord!
It must be killing those guys to not be on air before Iowa.
Wouldn’t the Daily Show without jokes just be real news?
According to the AVClub:
So it obviously won’t be top notch episodes until the writers come back, but it’s better than watching the local news or Leno.
Sigh. I kind of wish they’d just wait it out but I suppose they need to pay the rest of the staff.
Might be sort of interesting to watch Stewart try some longer interviews, he has interesting guests but between the need to make a few jokes and the fact that even the longer interviews are less then ten minutes, they don’t really have time to do more then maybe try to get the general jist of their book/movie/presidential campaign across to the audience.
Of course, I’d rather just have jokes, but whatcha gonna do.
