I liked it. I still feel like watching the Daily Show is the only time I feel like I’m actually watching news. The interview alone was more journalistic than pretty much anything on Foxnews or CNN.
And now John Oliver is playing a British imperialist character fucking up the map of the Middle East. He is killing this.
Did Stewart’s film get hammered at the Toronto Film Festival? Twice now he’s acted as though he was getting panned for it, but I can’t find any reviews online
They just finished shooting the movie, but it’s not finished. They’ll be showing some footage for potential international distributors at the film festival this weekend. This writer speculates that the film might be complete early next year.
The TIFF just gets started tonight. Even if his film was in the can, it doesn’t get the honour of opening the festival. That goes to The Fifth Estate.
I miss Oliver. I was never really a Stewart fan, and I didn’t see anything in his first week back to change my mind. I’ll watch the show when I’m home for it still, but I enjoyed the Oliver days much more.
