At age 60.
Truly one of my favorite players to watch back in the day. Seems crazy after Darryl Dawkins just passed away.

Great player, remembered for many things… including
his Fo Fo Fo prediction.
ended up being 4, 5, 4 actually.
I’m a Maryland fan and Lefty Driesell had him coming to Maryland before Moses went pro. The Terps had future NBA No. 1 overall pick John Lucas at point. Maryland had had some top 5 finishes in the previous seasons–it would have made for a monster college team with those two.
but… but… I swear I just watched him play a couple of years ago… ffs I hate this part of getting old: people I knew, liked and/or admired keep dying.
RIP Mr. Malone; you were awesome.
First Darryl Dawkins now Moses, someone keep an eye on Doctor J please.
Loved watching him as a Rocket.
The Washington Post has a story, How Moses ‘Mumbles’ Malone skipped college to save his family — and rule the NBA, about Moses going pro that’s an interesting read.
That was great, dasmoocher; thanks for linking it.
One of the greatest nicknames in sports history; “The Chairman of the Boards.”
Reportedly said once after leading the NBA in offensive rebounding and winning the MVP award that he wanted to thank his teammates for missing their shots so often.
RIP Moses.
That made me laugh out loud. Great quote.
