Years ago, my boss was happily inhaling a Snickers bar, when she suddenly threw it on the floor and screamed her head off. There were dozens of tiny white worms writhing around in the filling. Her horror was compounded by the fact that she had eaten MOST of the bar before she LOOKED at what she was eating! Ever since that day, I always check the date on any candy that I eat. Blecccchhh… just thinking about it makes me shudder !
Thanks for the cheese info, guys! I love this board. I learn something new every day!
I think my husband likes grits. He was born & raised here in Michigan, but his family is originally from Arkansas. I’ve never seen him eat grits, but I’m sure he has, and probably liked them. He does eat fried okra, though, which is on my list of “I wouldn’t eat that if it was the last edible substance on Earth” foods.
Food with bugs in it is pretty common. I’m sure we all ingest (usually inadvertently) all kinds of nasties. But my almost-one-year-old son was crawling around on the floor today, and I saw him pick something up off the carpet and start to put it in his mouth. I grabbed his hand, and saw that he was about to eat a small, deceased ant. Sigh. I put him in his playpen and vacuumed the floor, all the while wondering just how many of those things he’s already eaten.
