Damn, it feels good to be alive

It’s a Saturday morning. I’m hung over. But I feel strangely happy.

Thank you low paying job, for providing free aspirin in the break room, some of which I took home.
Thank you Jack Daniels, who numbed the pain of losing $20 in one hand to a better full house than mine.
Thank all of y’all for listening, and I hope you’re all feeling great too, for no better reasons than these.

You are very lucky here. Some time in the near future someone will remember you losing that hand but forget that you had a full house. They will bet their ass in the mistaken belief that you are bluffing. You will get back the $20 plus plenty.

Hiya neuro. Right back atcha.

I had an awful week and mixed my alcohol types last night, but I lost 3.2 pounds in the process and feel pretty good today. I’m actually looking forward to working out in a few minutes here, the sun is shining, and I’ll probably go for a run after BowFlexing…

Happy Saturday, various and sundry Dopers. Including you, don’t ask.

Wow, not to hijack or anything…

Hey Gazelle, how much is a BowFlex?

/hijack

That said, I’m pretty happy to be alive too. Mostly because there’s not an ounce of snow to be seen and temperatures having been in the mid-sixties lately. Spring makes me happy. Now, if only the grass would turn green…

I’m pretty happy to be alive, too. The sun is shining, it’s beautifully warm, there is a party in the park because of this morning’s Olympic marathon trials and tomorrow’s St. Louis Marathon (which I’m not running in this year - yay!), and after my fiance and I go try on our wedding bands for our wedding in a few weeks, we’re walking to that party, then to the Art Museum. We might even sit down on a park bench and watch some duckies.

Me three! Even if I am at work. At least I have a job, and plenty of OT pay to make.

And I’m newly married and very much in love.

Life is good! (Read my sig—it’s our song.)

Me too! Me too!
Things are really looking up after a looooooooooooonnnng slump!

  1. For anyone that was following: We have a bathroom again!
  2. Got new car insurance 1 day before old policy expired
  3. Went to see Aerosmith!
  4. It’s sunny
  5. Finished a big commission portrait that took me forever due to set backs!
  6. Got to come in to work 2 hours later due to “Spring Time Tallahassee” closing our section off.
  7. Updated my web page
  8. Lakers winning streak continues!

And feeling this good after being up ALL night throwing up! Hardly fair being that sick while sober. I should’ve at least earned my punishment! I’ll have to make up for that tonight.

I’m damn happy to be alive too! I’m in love, with a beautiful woman (Maureen) and all’s right with the world!

Only ten days until I finally take that trip to Paris. Born on Bastille Day, I pretended my name was “Mimi” when I was 5. Now I am 60. Planning for the trip over the last twelve months had given me one of the happiest years of my life.

I am beside myself with joy!

"Y’know, Myrtle, it’s been the dream of my life to see Paris, France – Oh, I don’t know. It sounds crazy, I suppose, but for years I’ve been promising myself that if we ever had the chance – " – Julia Gibbs, Our Town by Thornton Wilder

I hate to toot my own horn, but I’m having a pretty good weekend.

I got a job with a great company in my dream field in North Carolina, a state I feel like I shoula moved to long ago. This will also allow the lovely Morelin to get back into the field SHE loves. And about a year from now, if all goes well, we’ll be making a lot more money than we are now with about the same cost of living. And living in a much bigger apartment with, hopefully, a bigger kitchen. It’s amazing how domesticity has made me deeply passionate about the size of my kitchen.

AND

I’m working on a big story that may just turn into my second novel. Now if I can just get around to editing/cleaning up/submitting the first…

AND

We have over a month to plan our move. This is a big deal for us. We’ve moved twice before, once from CA to GA, when we had about a week to go from “No idea we were moving” to Atlanta with everything we own. The other time was in GA, but we didn’t want our roommate to know we were moving, so we had to do everything in like a day. Now we have a month to plan, pack, and coordinate.

So everything’s great here.

Happy in Banana land as well. Last night I had a killer migraine, but today I am migraine free! knock on wood I can literly see clearly now!

Yes indeed; I’m at work on Saturday night, but my weekend starts tomorrow. We’ve got beautiful weather, and the jillelope and I are planning to go see some movies and spend our whole weekend together (as always).

There also may be an excursion to look at engagement rings, you know, “just out of curiosity.”

(Great thread, neuroman; thanks!)

It does feel good to be alive. Drank way too much at a party last night. Woke up with writing on my face. I called a few people, and nobody remembers exactly who wrote on my face. Fortunately, I wasn’t teabagged. Well, nobody admits to teabagging me.

I felt pretty crappy in the morning. Some puking, but no headache. Some more sleep, some water, some caffeine and a mega-multivitamin later, and I’m feeling okay.

You’re such a romantic.
It’s a beautiful weekend; warm, perfect weather, work went well last week, and I’m FINALLY over my flu. Plus my sweetie thinks I’m beautiful. Yep. Life is good.

Today is my Friday at work, so Sunday and Monday are my Saturday and Sunday. My house is (mostly) clean, I can relax and watch DVDs all weekend, and Monday is my birthday. Yea!

All is mostly right in the land of the midnight owl.

HAPPY EARLY BIRTHDAY SCREECH-OWL! hands screech-owl a cookie

Y’know, I have more than a few reasons to feel otherwise (still looking for full-time work in my field after 2 years & the bills are nearing critical), but today I heartily concur with the OP.

Watched cartoons this morning with the cub, played a little TR3, then we went outside in the warm breeze & sunshine and played basketball & tag. I started a Diskworld book while she played sidewalk chalk, then we walked down to the pond & looked at the fish, came back here and watched some “Schoolhouse Rock” on DVD while the cable was out, whereupon she fell asleep, leaving a little time for me to post to the Dope before her mommy gets home, when we’ll heat up a pizza & settle in to watch the Duke game. That adds up to an all-round great day.

Plus I see screech-owl for the first time in ages. (My fault for letting circumstances keep me away too long.)

:: waves to screech-owl :: Hi! Happy Birthday, Bird Lady!

and congrats, GMRyujin! Always happy to hear good employment news in this area. Are you in Raleigh-wood now, or moving to, or from? Or just around in?

Bon voyage, o woman of many names! Hope you have a great time!

Hiya sweetie! Approximately $1300? They just upped the unit’s badassness right after we bought it, though… 2nd Wind Exercise Equipment has pretty good deals, 60-day no payment plans and stuff. Check 'em out and tell 'em Gazelle sent ya.

Zoe, I’m excited for you! Paris is incredible; have a GREAT time and definitely take the time to sit in a streetside bistro, sipping espresso and just being mellow, while thinking to yourself, I must remember this…

I’m so envious. Have a wonderful time!
