Need a couple new dog collars. Went to Tractor Supply, 'cause it’s closest and wife had a bunch of other stuff she wanted. What a bunch of crappy, ugly collars! No style!
Went to WalMart. Again, no purple one for Trixie, and nothing at all for Dox. He currently has a kind of “Navajo” design one. I wanted something similar.
Alright. I’ll go clear to the other side of town to Petco. Now we’re talkin’! Purple ones for Trixie, slightly better options for Doxie.
Then I look at the prices! $10 for a tiny little strip of purple webbing! Nearly $20 for Doxie size! No fuckin’ way! Cheap, made in China and you expect people to pay 2 or 3 times what WalMart is basically selling?
This place is really taking advantage of us stoopid people who love their critters too much! Well, being a cheap bastard I didn’t buy thing there. Nor do I suspect I’ll ever return.
I found a real nice, plain black, but very sturdy collar for Doxie. Other than color, virtually identical to the $20 one I passed on. Where? The Kroger grocery store where I do all my shopping.
$2.98! A little under what Petco wanted. I ended up repairing his fancy one, anyway, so he is stylin’ again. I’ll keep the new one as backup. Trixie? Well, she has to keep her old one. Nothing wrong with it.
Hopefully my recommendation isn’t an issue (I don’t work for them, just shop there because they have the BEST prices) but check out PetEdge if you need any sort of pet supplies. They’re a wholesaler (mostly marketed to groomers and stores) so they have a minimum that, if not met they’ll add I think $15 to your total, but most of the time I still end up saving money even with the extra ten bucks. Definitely worth checking out if you’re a pet owner.
I feel ya. I hate McDonald’s burgers because they’re so generic and bland. So I went to a high-end brewpub to get the kind of burger I like. Would you believe they charge SEVERAL TIMES what McDonald’s charges?
If you don’t buy both Trixie and Dox a La Collection de BijouxAmour Amour collar, you don’t deserve to even own a pet, you beast!
I purchased Amour Amour collars for my Snoodle dog, Tabby cat, Abyssinian guinea pig and Bi-polar gerbil (tried, but failed to put one on my giant African Dwarf Frog—unfortunately, it weighed the poor amphibian down and he drowned. Lesson learned). Nice collars give your pets a sense of entitlement, which they so richly deserve.
Thanks for the shout out! I currently only have a few martingale collars in stock. I was reluctant to sell collars because so many other shops sell them, but I could if there is a demand. I’d have to check and see if I can sell them for less than $10, though. It’s hard for me to compete on prices with Petco (I don’t have the volume).
Not so sure about that! That’s the core of this puny rant! You won’t be able to touch the Kroger, though. I paid $3 for the same damn collar that Petco wanted $20 for!
I have suppliers that give me access to pretty much everything under the sun, so if you don’t see something you want, you can ask and I’ll see if I can find and list it in my shop. I’ve set up a new “gift registry” feature mainly as a way for people to donate goods to shelters, and am considering adding mundane/functional things like stainless steel food bowls.
