I don’t know what got into me, other than the general crankiness I’m feeling today because I haven’t had any cigarettes. There’s only 2 of us working in our group today instead of the usual 4. I’m in St Louis trying to troubleshoot a problem with a piece of equipment in Midland TX, trying to track down a missing replacement part that should have gone to Dallas TX, talking through someone onsite in Tampa FL how to replace a piece of hardware, and running tests on a site in Denver.
Then my supervisor, we’ll call him John (although his real name is Barry), comes up to my desk. This is a man I had described earlier as being so dumb he couldn’t pour piss out of a boot if the instructions were written on the bottom of the heel. I stand by that statement.
If you see an employee busting ass and then ask what is he doing and he responds with everything I said I’m doing above, do you then say, "Well when you have time, I need you to . . . "
NO! Leave the poor SOB alone for a few minutes! I’m swamped because he can’t write up a frickin’ schedule properly and make sure we have the coverage we need! As it stands right now, I’m working through my lunch break and the only thing that looks like it may be finished by the time I leave is the hardware replacement in Tampa. (Which BTW, if this guy doesn’t know how to replace parts on our equipment Why the hell is that HIS JOB!!!
Anyway, that’s basically what I told my supervisor, and it felt gooooooooood . . . And the best part is, he just chalked it up to nicotine withdrawal (since everyone here knows I’m quitting) and I’m not in trouble at all.
