I have been very vocal about my career problems here.
Earlier this week, I found a job listing on the University site for a Lab Animal Manager. Its a position above the one I currently have. After some hemming and hawing (and a IMHO post looking for resume help. Thanks Dopers!), today I emailed a cover letter and resume for the job.
Two hours later I got a call.
"Hi, I’m from Dr. S___“s lab. We got your resume. Would you be interesting in overseeing an animal procedure sometime next week? We would like you to see the lab and how we do things.”

I had to decline the invitation. **Mouse_Spouse ** are leaving for our “official” honeymoon next week and we’ll be gone for two weeks. (I’ll confess: the reason I sent the resume today was so if they rejected me, I wouldn’t know for a while.)
Hopefully, I haven’t shot myself in the foot. Its kinda nice to know that someone was eager to have me work with me.
If they called you back 2 hours later, it sounds like you’re what they’re looking for. Did they reschedule after your honeymoon? Keep us posted, it sounds like you’re going to get out of there quickly!
Forget the honeymoon thing, tell them you’re heading to the Amazon Rain Forest to oversee the collection of a brace of rare dire-marmosets (Callithrix horribilis) for a study you’ve been working on in your spare time, and that the Yanamamo head man you’ve contracted with would react fiercely to any delays…would they mind waiting for you to return?
