Dan Crenshaw: Porno hitman or disrespected wounded vet?

Trump isn’t unique. His particular brand of narcissistic assholery isn’t uncommon in the U.S. It just typically doesn’t have as much money to play with.

I thought his sketch was the only thing funny on that episode. Yeah porno hit man maybe not the best choice.

I feel this is PC run amok though. I don’t know a lot of Seals or anything but I know one. He probably laughed his ass off. This was a kind of joke he would tell.

I wonder if it’s the porno part of the joke that is rubbing the evangelical snowflake button the wrong way. Maybe he could have said something about being the villain in an Adam West Batman Christmas Special.

I would think it would be awesome if Mr. Patch would have invited Lil’ Petey to his house to “go blow some shit up and be badass”. In my opinion the congressman blew a real chance to look cool and step all over PC culture to boot.

Wining about feelings and valor doesn’t jive with any of the vets I know.

But seriously Walker does look like a Bruce Willis shaped from a dong. That’s just funny.

Yeah, the guy undoubtedly wanted to look dashing as a political statement, and should’ve installed a fake eye in that socket so as not to unfairly leverage his disability.

The things some vets will do to get attention…:smack:

I found this episode to be lackluster and not funny. Davidson’s little piece did not register with me at all.

The thing is, there’s a difference between really mocking a person for a disability and taking a lighthearted shot at a politician with an eyepatch.

Lol. Yes, a whirlwind engagement and break up with one of the world’s biggest popstars sure is boring.

He’s been seen wearing a glass eye (a blue one with a SEAL trident no less), and also plastered his eyepatched face on his campaign imagery. How many other politicians typically do that in an official capacity? Very few. Most of the time they’re nondescript or ugly old white men.

But Crenshaw has something visually arresting in that eyepatch- I understand WHY he’d do what he does- wearing a glass eye just makes him look a bit wonky, and doesn’t have the bad-ass connotations that an eyepatch does, especially not for a former SEAL.

However, making that choice to deliberately play up the look with the eyepatch also makes that eyepatch fair game for jokes. It’s the fact that it’s being played up as part of the campaign imagery that makes it fair game, not the fact that he lost his eye and wears an eyepatch.

That ship sailed, sank and is now a coral reef.

I’m gonna vote for over the line. Making fun of someone’s disability is generally verboten and can only be pulled off by Masters. Pete Davidson is not among their number and a one-off “porno hitman” insult is certainly not funny enough to cross that line. TBH, the only guy I can remember that pulled off a disability joke about someone else successfully was Norm MacDonald with his Oscar Pistorius bit.

Making fun of a war wound is no worse (and no better) than making fun of any other wound. With the exception of wounds that were received under truly hilarious circumstances; those ones are a special category.

Hey, Katt Williams has his own thing about Poor Little Think Think.

DYAC!

Eh… SNL is notorious (infamous?) for running in cycles. Give them 3-4 years and they’ll be funny again.

Well, Magiver’s comment wasn’t about SNL being funny but about SNL being edgy. Which isn’t the same thing; and I think it’s a lot harder in general for comedy to be edgy these days than it used to be.

In its early years, SNL was part of the counterculture, and that ship has coral-reefed, at any rate.

I’m sure you can get enough coverage of this drama in your latest edition of TeenVogue. I don’t need this in my comedy.

Want to see liberal hypocrisy? Start making some Tammy Duckworth jokes and see if their sense of humor is still there.

Wanna see conservative hypocrisy?
Trump has shown enormous disrespect for the military and not a peep from the GOP.

Duckworth doesn’t flaunt her loss of three limbs as much as Crenshaw flaunts the loss of his eye. He uses the eyepatch as part of his image.
It’s that over the top image that’s being ridiculed.

Oh, that. He didn’t make fun of his disability. He made fun of his choice to wear an old fashioned eye patch. He doesn’t have to look like that. Most normal people with a missing eye do not.
**
Making fun of someone’s choice of clothing or fashion is not making fun of their disability.**

That’s like saying making fun of someone’s ugly glasses is making fun of their nearsightedness. Sure, if you make fun of how thick they are, then that’s about the disability. But the design? That’s just fashion.

No, it’s just that, if you support Trump, then you are a hypocrite to complain anyone else who lacks common decency. You can’t celebrate how Trump is so not PC but then whine when someone isn’t PC towards someone on your side.

If this were a situation where someone made fun of his disability (rather than his deliberately ridiculous looking eye patch) then I would say that the person was wrong to do that. But I would also say that no one who supports Trump gets to complain.

Same as I would say that someone who cheats on their wife doesn’t get to come to me and complain when their mistress cheats on them. Even though I think both are wrong.

And I’m sure you can get all your comedy needs filled by Mallard Fillmore so you don’t get bothered by all this teen vogue content.
