Great mother of mercy . . . the guy makes his first non-news appearance since this attack happened, and in the process chokes up (he hardly “lost it”) twice, once when speaking of the NYPD and NYFD, and once when speaking of singing “America the Beautiful,” and for this you condemn him? What the fuck is wrong with you? Is everyone in the countrry allowed to grieve except for Dan Rather?
I would hope that, given the magnitude of last week’s events, some people might develop a better sense of proportion (hyperbole notwithstanding):

Unless you are suggesting Wildest Bill was involved in the attack on the World Trade Center - and you know, I somehow doubt he was, though if he was you should probably contact the FBI - there’s absolutely no connection whatsoever between that and this rant.

This is the fruitcake who is always running around promoting himself instead of just reporting the news.
As I wrote earlier in this thread about what he said in 1993 about JFK’s assassination, how we would probably “never know what really happened” and how then a REAL journalist like Gerald Posner investigated it and wrote a book about what did really happen that day.
Rather would rather (no pun intended) just host a show about the assassination bringing up more rumors with no evidence whatsover so he can help CBS get big ratings and continue to make his 2 million a year (or more) while they are firing people from the news division to cut costs.
Jennings and Brokaw are no better (good looking celebrities for ratings), but Rather is fucking nuts!
Wait till they pull out the film of him out when he went to Afganistan around 1980 to report on the Russian war with the Afgans. He is wearing a turban and breathlessly saying how dangerous it is. If you saw it in a movie, you’d laugh your ass off. You’ll laugh your ass off anyway.

Usually us up here in the Great North ahem do have resentment towards the US, but it is very much what has already been mentioned, the younger brother, friendly resentment.
