Dan Savage: Savage Love

Our local alternative newspaper, The City Pages carries a column called Savage Love by Dan Savage.

Mr. Savage is an “out” homosexual and writes the funniest responses to sexual advice letters I’ve ever read. El Hubbo and I have a ritual. Every Friday afternoon he picks me up at the bus stop, we go to the liquor store for beer, grab a City Pages and I read Savage Love to him on the way home.

Recent labiaplasty (sp?) columns have been a scream.

Any other Savage Love fans out there?

Yup, I love him. The Onion used to carry him, but not in the print version anymore. He’s still on the web version of the Onion, though, and I read him regularly.

Let’s hear it for Dan Savage. One of these days, I need to go get his book.

I love him, too. Hilarious and informative. If I had any sexual questions, I’d go to him, for sure.

Formerly unknown as “Melanie”

I read him every week. I find him funny and informative.

He’s kind of what Cecil himself might have been if he were writing a column devoted entirely to sex questions.

“Sherlock Holmes once said that once you have eliminated the
impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be
the answer. I, however, do not like to eliminate the impossible.
The impossible often has a kind of integrity to it that the merely improbable lacks.”

Count me in as a fan. My usual alternative paper used to carry his column until a few months ago. Then he went over to the enemy (Now). I’m glad others like his stuff as my RL buddies think I’m strange for liking him. I need new friends, obviously.

Some drink at the fountain of knowledge…others just gargle.

And he’s from Seattle…
Whoohoo!

He actually commonly writes stories in our local alternapaper. the stranger!

Lack of charisma can be fatal

Until last week he also wrote a more mainstream column for abcnews.com. It was more about relationships than sex, but he was still a good read. He has just moved to a new health site, onhealth.com, where he will write a similar column with his mom as co-author. Should be interesting.

He also sometimes shows up on This American Life (an NPR show) and is absolutely hilarious. Search their website for realplayer episodes with him. God ones about sissies and seeming straight because you’re carrying a baby.

His new book “The Kid” is wonderful too. It is all about how he and his boyfriend adopted a baby, but it’s broader than just anticipating diapers, sleepless nights, and spit-up. I read it in one day, and I would recommend it to any Savage Love fan.

It’s one of those things you read for entertainment value. I wouldn’t send anyting but made up problems under made up names. he insults half the senders. But yes of course I read it. They just run all kinds of national junk in our paper and not Cecil!

I have been reading him in abcnews.com for months…thanks for the linkd guys, now I wont miss it!
The columns you saw arent the same as what he wrote for abc??

Dan and Ma Savage’s column at OnHealth.com is supposed to start mid-February. I think there are 2 yrs of archives of his relationship column on ABCNews.Com.

stands up

I’m a fan.
