Dana and Hallowell

I have noticed that both Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania, and Tufts University in Boston have buildings named Dana and Hallowell. Who were these people and how did they end up donating to such geographically separate institutions?

There’s no relationship at all.

Swarthmore first. The Dana Corp. and a “H. Thomas Hallowell, class '29” were the big contributors to the dorms. http://www.sccs.swarthmore.edu/users/03/dbing/history/danawell/

Thanks for the swift in depth information. Actually, checking the links shows it is the same Dana, but different Hallowells.
