Dance Like a Pirate Party - Playlist Suggestions?

Greetings Teeming Millions!

This will be our 2nd Annual Dance Like a Pirate party, and I thought I’d ask for suggestions on dance-able shanties or Pirate themed rump shakers from y’all.

I don’t have my playlist handy, but I’ll post it for you to see what we have so far, but off the top of my head I have:

Adam Ant: Jolly Roger
You Are A Pirate
…and some Pirates of the Caribbean remixes.

For when you want to slow it down…

A Pirate Looks at 40 - Jimmy Buffet

Caribbean Queen
Octopus’s Garden

George Harrison sings

Abney Park - Airship Pirates
Abney Park - Throw Them Overboard
Abney Park - Victoria (maybe?)
Abney Park - Aether Shanty (maybe?)
Abney Park - **The Derelict (CERTAINLY! It uses “Fifteen Men On A Dead Man’s Chest/Yo Ho Ho And A Bottle Of Rum”!)
**
Their site.
Edit: Admittedly I haven’t kept up with them too much since Nathaniel Johnstone left (the previous awesome violinist/guitarist) to form his own band. But what I have listed is good.

Forgot a link! Aether Shanty. You can get their music from their site store, by the way. (I see I didn’t mention that.)

Sex Pistols’ Friggin’ in the Riggin’

It’s not exactly danceable, but just about every Alestorm song is about pirates.

Great suggestions so far (had Derelict on the list already)

A few others that are on my list:
Scurvy
Pirate Love
Yo Ho (Jonas Bros)
Charlie Mopps
Bell Bottom Trousers

I’d say just about anything by the Pogues.
Sure, it’s more Irish folk punk, but I think you can get that pirate feel from it.
Especially the album; Rum, Sodomy & the Lash.
Try these tunes:
Sally MacLennane
Billy’s Bones
The Gentleman Soldier
And for something a bit slower;
Dirty Old Town Great to sing-a-long to.

Gay Pirates - Cosmo Jarvis

The Men They Couldn’t Hang - The Colours

Seven Deadly Sins by Flogging Molly

Basically the entire album A Pirate Broadcast by the Hellblinki Sextext. Although I guess It Comes to This and A Dementish Waltz are the fan favorites.

Damn, beaten to the punch…

A South African classic (so unknown to anyone else, I assume): The Buccaneer

Get yer hands on the 2006 double-album ‘Rogue’s Gallery: Pirate Ballads, Sea Songs, and Chanteys’, matey!

It features 43 songs from the genre (some traditional, some covers, some original) by artists such as Bono, Sting, but also a lot of good ones like Roxy Music’s Bryan Ferry, Nick Cave, Loudon Wainwright III (who contributes a hilarious rendition of ‘Good Ship Venus’, also known as ‘Friggin’ in the Riggin’’, the Sex Pistols’ version of which has already been mentioned upthread) (actually, the whole Wainwright family – his son, Rufus, and wife, Kate McGarrigle – are on there, too), John C. Reilly (the actor), Jarvis Cocker (of Pulp-fame), Lou Reed, Antony Hegarty, Gavin Friday… It’s really pretty much tailor-made for your party (though you might have to skip over a not-too-danceable track or two).

Anything by the Monkees should be ok.

anything by captain dan and the scurvy crew.

I would say you absolutely need a couple of songs from the album “Let the Four Winds Blow” by Tenpole Tudor…

“Throwing My Baby Out With the Bathwater” (full songand a truncated version with a fun video)
and
the title cut.

Tubular Bells Part 2: The Sailor’s Hornpipe - Mike Oldfield
