ROFLMAO after seeing this Karate Kid parody with William Zabka and Ralph. This video is a must see. Great stuff.
They should have included Zabka in this seasons dwts. The dance off between those two actors would have been fantastic.

Karina Smirnoff is in the new Playboy. DWTS has featured quite a few people from the magazine. Brooke posed a few years ago, Kendra, Holly Madison, Denise Richards there’s quite a list.
Karina’s bosses knew about it ahead of time.

If you’re curious, dwtsgossip on twitter has a link to the pics. Karina is quite lovely and very muscular & fit. I thought they were tastefully done. I hope there’s no backlash from the public. Her dances costumes cover very little anyway.
Louis just tweeted they got Katherine Jenkins on tonight! She was on the Doctor Who Christmas special a few months ago. A crossover opera/pop mezzo-soprano with a fantastic voice. We are in for one heck of a treat tonight. I’m playing her music right now.
Tonight may be the best dwts this season. I’m looking forward to classical night.
Tom Bergeron’s tweet about tonight:
I loved the classical music. I liked several of the dances. Sugar Ray, Hines, Ralph were really good. Petra was ok. I’m not a big fan of the Paso and there were quite a few of them tonight.
I didn’t see any dances that totally sucked. I guess Kendra and Kirstie were my least favorite. Don’t have a clue who’s going home. The scores were all bunched up together. Anyone could get sent home and that’s what makes this season so interesting.
Katherine Jenkins was really good. I prefer her crossover songs, but the opera numbers she did tonight sounded great.
Almost forgot…
This was the second time Kym Johnson danced to Bond’s hit Explosive.
Here she is on the Australian version dancing the Paso with a Pro a few years ago.
Tonight she danced the Paso with Hines to the same song. I’m curious how much of the choreography she reused. After it’s posted to youtube it’ll be interesting to compare the two dances. I wouldn’t fault her for reusing some of the earlier steps. That earlier dance was really good. I enjoy the Paso when it’s done professionally.
Pretty broad definition of “classical”, but what the heck.
Kendra has some self-esteem issues, methinks. Every week she uses the word “lady” – I need to be a lady, I’m not a lady, I should be lady-like, I can’t be lady-like…
I can’t decide whether she’s a bimbo, or just believes she’s a bimbo. Certainly she sounds like she’s Eliza Doolittle resisting becoming My Fair Lady to hear her talk. And once again, Louis is over-choreographing her.
That was “classical” for some very large values of classical. Contemporary movie music is not classical music even when it’s by John Williams, who was director of the Boston Pops for a reason.
I am sick of their putting Pasos to inappropriate music, regardless of how much I like that music. Even March of the Toreadors, although the title sounds like it would be perfect for a paso, is totally rhythmically off, and too cheerful in its sound. I enjoyed the Grieg (In the Hall of the Mountain King), but it was too quick for a paso.
Romeo was pretty good, but I found his ripping his jacket off at the end egregious. Anna did a lovely job of dancing like crazy around Sugar Ray. I’m betting that girl grew up taking ballet and always secretly wanted to be a prima donna. Petra was OK, but she just doesn’t do anything for me. She seems like a lovely person and I certainly wish her well, but I have no interest in seeing her dance. And I keep searching for why she was a super model, and not seeing it.
I thought Ralph’s waltz was a bit clumsy, but I like him a lot. Hines and Kym are just plain good. Kym knows how to teach and choreograph for this setting very well.
Mark, Derek’s gimmicks were admired not least because they only showed up when asked for. Cut it out! That said, his choreography was very clever, and did a wonderful job of storytelling. Just not quite enough waltz. Still, I think Chelsea’s the best dancer of the season, although only by a nose.
Chris certainly continues to improve, and you can never afford to count Cheryl out; she’s too good at this.
Kirstie continues with the bad luck. But I can’t get over how much Maks has changed this season. He’s actually likable for the first time that I’ve ever seen. Maybe it took a contestant who outweighed him. Anyway, I liked her dance a lot; I thought she was graceful, technically proficient, and had a strong sense of musicality in a piece that, while very beautiful, did not have a strongly delineated beat, unlike most waltzes.
I’m not at all sure who’ll go down tonight, but I’m not shedding any tears if it’s Kendra. If she’s so reluctant to become a “lady,” perhaps she’ll be happy to have the burden lifted.
I wish they’d stop with the gimmick nights. They’re what, the second biggest show on TV wrt ratings? Why do they constantly find this need to tinker with it?
Ugh. Seriously. I will admit that he’s a good dancer, although I find him annoying in the extreme. He can go to the finals if he develops a personality, and finds some way of connecting with the audience…and strutting around with your shirt off is not “connecting”.
I  at all the pros warning their stars that classical music is difficult, because it “has no beat”. C’mon, March of the Toreadors is a march, for crissake. Hup two three four.
Not to mention that they did A Fifth of Beethoven, rather than Beethoven’s Fifth! It was a disco hit, for pete’s sake. You don’t get much stronger beat than that. (Then had their poor pros choreographing a paso to it. Oh, the humanity!)
I am sick of Mark. Not that I wasn’t before, but every week he’s worse. Why is he choreographing himself? And making sure the spotlight on is on him all the time. I would not have minded the worm so much if both of them had been doing it together or if the focus was on Chelsea wriggling around the floor - but I am of his “look at me!!!” crap and the judges should have seriously graded them down for it. I want them to go. I’m sorry for Chelsea who deserves a better partner than that.
Other than that, I liked Hines, Jericho, and Ralph (even though I found their dance kind of creepy - was Karina supposed to be the “corpse”? That was weird. Pretty, but weird).
I did the same thing! As the dance started, I said out loud to an empty room, “Oh my god, he’s dancing with a corpse!” But I had sort of gotten over the creepiness of that 30 seconds in. It was a lovely dance.
Preach it, sister. I wish Derek would have a little talk with him. I wish Derek were around to have a little talk with him.
After winning all those titles, how could Sugar Ray’s fans let him down? There’s no loyalty in this world at all. Worst of all, we’re stuck with Kendra for another week. She’s mainly known for sharing a bed with an 80 year old dude. Sugar Ray won boxing titles in five different weight divisions, and an Olympic Gold Medal. fickle fans… <shakes head>
What does any of that have to do with whether they should continue on DwtS?
dwts is primarily a popularity contest. Unless someone really sucks at dancing, the people with the bigger fan base last the longest. Usually as you get close to the final then dance ability begins to matter more. But, right now we’re in the early stages and there’s still several people that are barely average dancers.
I shouldn’t take it personal. Tonight was tougher than usual because I’ve followed that celebrity’s career and cheered him for over 25 years. Won a few nice bets too.
The core audience is middle-aged housewives. How many of them have even heard of Leonard? :dubious:
OK, the show has played on the west coast, so I think it’s safe to talk about the result.
I would much rather have seen Kendra go. But Sugar Ray was also doomed to go very soon, and he did go out on a high note this way. I thought his remarks at the end were very gracious.
I figured that Kendra would not go home when they showed Louis telling her how disappointed he was in what she said to the judges. It would really have been kicking her when she was down to show that right before sending her off, and the show is not usually cruel.
But I sincerely hope that she will be gone before four weeks are up and we are in danger of being treated to this kind of behavior again.
I hope Kendra sucks it up and gets motivated again. Her comments about ballroom dances and gagging gesture towards the music made it clear she’s growing tired of the show. Perfectionists are often like that. If they give a 100% and still don’t conquer something they quickly lose interest. Kendra probably will do a lot better with latin dances then traditional ballroom.
Yes, I’m speaking from experience. Perfectionism has often been a liability for me.
The music choices are getting increasingly bad. I don’t know if the producers choose the music or if Harold Wheeler chooses the music or if the pro dancers have input but they need some help, stat.
Someone said, in the course of the show, sometimes in Paso the female partner is the bull, sometimes she’s the cape. Since Chelsie was definitely the bull, the jacket served as the cape. I prefer it when the jacket is the cape to when they actually have a physical cape like most of Cheryl’s partners have had (and I’m thankful Jericho didn’t). It would’ve been nice though, if they were going that way, if he’d have had a shirt on.
Absolutely correct. She’s talked about that, somewhere, but I can’t recall if it was on the show or in an interview.
Mark very clearly doesn’t want to be there. His album came out today and he’s performing live as often as possible, but not as often as before. The season he was voted off early with Shannon Doherty he was performing live every Monday night at an L.A. nightclub that ended up being the unofficial afterparty for the rest of the competitors on the show. So he’s got this album dropping, he’s not performing live music, his brother and sister are gone (don’t hold your breath for either Hough to ever return to that dance floor) and he’s recently broken up with his girlfriend. I wouldn’t be surprised if this is his last season.
Nope, I’d put it down to seven little words: Karina Smirnoff is engaged to someone else. The tension between them last season was powerful. Karina was always going out to the afterparties so Maks wasn’t, so he wasn’t socializing and seemed pretty alienated from the show. Balance has been restored there.
I pay way too much attention to DWTS gossip (and the pro dancers Twitters), quite clearly.
