Dang it! Found a puppy . . .

A very, very, very, very cute black and white border collie, about four months old. It was windy and snowing and she was crouched in the middle of the street. No collar, of course.

I can’t keep her because we have three dogs. Please think good “finding owner or new owner” thoughts for me. Puppy is in a big kennel in the basement while the other dogs do random “what are you doing in my house?!” barking at the door.

Where are you? I have local contacts in rescue through my wife. You may not be nearby, but if you are I can help. Or use the e-mail in my profile.

On the Ohio/PA border about 75 miles from Pittsburgh. Any help appreciated, I’m happy to deliver the puppy to a responsible person/organization within a day’s drive if I don’t find the owner.

Try Mid-Atlantic Border Collie Rescue - they may not be all that close, but my experience with breed rescue groups is that they will travel to make sure a dog has a safe haven.

I’m much too far away to offer actual assistance, but I’ll add “good wishes” thoughts in this slow traffic time.

So sayeth garygnu, three-dog-owner

Awww, I wish you good luck in finding its owner.

And I know this isn’t your puppy or anything, but he/she sounds so cute. Pic?

Attempting first photo upload to SDMB . . .

This isn’t the puppy, but she is identical to this little guy

That’s a cute pup. Did you have her checked for a chip?

I’m going to the vet tomorrow to have her scanned and check the lost announcements. I live in a rural area where people tend to have a lot of “backyard dogs” that they like but don’t necessarily take very good care of (as in, put collars with IDs on them, much less chip 'em).

Squee! She’s just adorable! I hope she finds a great home.
