Danger Doom: The Mouse and the Mask

Sorry comic book guys, this is, in fact, a hip-hop thread. But don’t run away too quickly! Any album with a first track called EL CHUPA NIBRE can’t be all that bad, can it?

No, it can’t. It’s a fantastic album. I know I’m probably a little late to the party for any serious Danger Mouse or MF Doom fans (I would have put myself in the second category, actually, but I’d never heard about it) since it was released in 2005.

Anyone else bumping this disc?

Sure, I like things that Danger Mouse get’s his hands on, be it the Gray Album, Danger Doom, or Gnarls Barkley. This one is doubly appealing as it’s got a comic/cartoon bent to it.

Well, I love The Gray Album and I will be running out and picking up Mouse & The Mask and St. Elsewhere just from all the word of mouth I have been hearing about them lately.

Do it!

Although, while the Gray Album is certainly badass in it’s concept (remixing/sampling the Beatles’ White Album, for those who don’t know), many of the tracks just aren’t as catchy as those from The Mouse and The Mask. Plus like like Doom’s flow better.

Not that I don’t like a Jay Z track or two (anyone heard the “7 minute freestyle” with him and Big L?)
