What the hell, you guys? He did suck it up. He did the project. Now he’d like to do a nice relaxing romcom or some Shakespeare. That’s the beauty of being successful in his industry.
All I know is, for the rest of his life, he’s got to wonder: is that stuntman glaring at me?
Ha. There’s a Roger Moore interview out there that talks about his stunts and he said " I’m good at making other people look like me".
Goldfinger was a great movie! One of the best Bond flicks ever. (And, Lordy, so much better than the book!) The car, Oddjob, the golf game, the laser, the countdown timer… Just heaps of really great bits!
As for a new Bond, how about Yannick Bisson, who plays William Murdoch on “Murdoch Mysteries?” He looks quite a lot like a young Sean Connery, and he can act.
(I think he can act. I’m not sure. Murdoch doesn’t seem to give him a lot of latitude.)
I wasn’t suggesting that he play Bond. I was using him as an example of what happens when you have a real good thing going and you start criticizing the shot caller or show runner publicly. That’s not a good thing to do. It is akin to biting the hand that feeds you. I can’t ever recall an incident where that worked out well for the biter.
Although, there may be a small number of cases in which it did work out well, I can’t recall any where it did. If someone is kind enough to give you a job or help you out somehow, it’s just wrong to turn around and bite them. Don’t you think?
I’m quite sure Tom Hiddleston can act.
So you’re saying the kid from Two and a Half Men bit James Bond?
I read a fairly thorough interview with Craig. What I took away from the interview was that he’s of a somewhat angry disposition. Also, his natural tendency is to speak his mind very strongly, but he’s learned that can be a handicap in his profession, so he’s taught himself to be controlled and reticent. I think these qualities comes across in his playing of Bond, and I think they make him good in the role.
The story linked by the OP is (no doubt deliberately) selectively quoting. If you read a more fulsome version of his comments such as here you find he also qualified his comments with “at the moment”.
It’s almost as if this whole story draws attention to the movie/franchise etc. You know - famous actor says something/movie studio says something. Media publishes their words to the whole world and generates a whole load of conversation and public consciousness abour the actor, the studio, the movie.
I can’t imagine why anyone would want that.
I don’t think it will be a problem. It will be hard to notice with his complexion.
If Craig is done, I will certainly miss that ass. One of the finest in show business.
(posterior, not the man)
Then let’s get him the job! My former top pick for the job was Clive Owen, but Elba is my new favorite.
Well, on the technicality that Michael Fassbender actually is James Bond.
Because they would never hire a Canadian with a french name.
He couldn’t be worse for the role. He would totally kill the franchise.
Naveen Andrews is better looking and more famous. Seems like a better pick if we don’t need a white Bond. He’d have to cut those luxurious locks though.
More famous to whom? Your post is the first time I’d ever heard that name. I know who Idris Elba is, though. As to better looking, YMMV, I guess; that guy looks kinda Cro-Magnon to me.
Chiwet Ejiofor, and it’s not close.
Emily Blunt would make a good Bond (OK, 006 or something)
Yea, that’s what they said about George Lazenby,
