Here he is just a little while ago talking about that list and his presence on it.
I just finished listening to a retrospective on his life on NPR. So sad. I really liked Daniel Schorr. I mean, I knew he was winding down, but it was still a surprise. 93. Wow. Good for him.
Sheesh. Who’s next, Carl Kasell?
Here’s Scott Simon’s formal obituary from Weekend Edition Saturday. He tweeted that they didn’t even think to draft an obituary until Mr. Schorr turned 90. I read this last night, but the audio this morning was even more moving. (The audio isn’t on the site yet, but should be there in the next hour or so.)
The closing of the show with an excerpt from the Frank Zappa concert was incredible as well.
I loved his commentaries and analyses for their insight, but I especially appreciated them because he wasn’t a grumpy old man. He didn’t even sound 93, much less like a curmudgeon.
Sorry to see him go.
I especially enjoyed his appearance in the film The Game.
I always enjoyed his commentary-he certainly saw a lot of history!
