Nice try. She has 15k+ posts and probably a third of them are of the drive-by insult with zero content variety. Sometimes there will be up to three or four in just one thread. Occasionally, when called on it, she’ll say that she’ll try to stop but it never seems to happen.

This is not true. The original thread was locked and discussion was shut down for a week while the staff dealt with what was, in most respects, an internal situation. One person was temporarily banned for repeatedly flouting the request not to stir the shitcan while the situation was in the process of being resolved.
When the staff came to their conclusion, as announced by Ed, the restriction on discussion was lifted with the caveat that “All such discussion is to be confined to the Pit” and further disussion should remain relatively civil. The temp-banned poster was reinstated, and discussion continued in the new thread until, as Ed put it, the thread ran out of gas and it was locked.
There were no restrictions placed on opening new threads. Happily, everybody has the common sense not to keep scratching at everyone else’s scabs.
Until the Cafe Society thread came along, that is.
It has been pointed out to me by email that I missed one thing in my history above. This Pit thread, which pointed to the CS thread announcing Euty’s “hiatus” as a moderator, was locked because it threatened to get “ugly.” There wasn’t any kind of explanation that further threads would suffer the same fate, but its closing was ambiguous enough that I can understand if anyone had that concern.

And drop, I was a little confused at first as to why you were posting about not being able to start any more threads on the subject, so I’m glad minty cleared it up for you. Yes, with all the threads going around, it’s been confusing, I agree.
I have asked Ed if I may have permission to start a “thank you Euty thread” in MPSIMS as elf6c suggested, as despite the circumstances I think it would be a nice thing for those who wish to give kudos to Euty for his work as a Moderator a place to do so without having it devolve into a rehashing of the entire situation yet again.

I don’t understand why I would have any reason to apologize to you. I have not done anything to you. I did not care for the manner in which you chose to call my attention to what so irritated you, and I told you so. I also confessed that I shared your chagrin that what was turning into a nice thread for Euty was turned into something else. I have sincere sorrow about this situation, and indeed regrets about not posting my support of Persephone elsewhere. I said I was sorry about that. But that wasn’t an apology to you. (??)
