DAoC: Who's still playing?

Morelin and I played Dark Age of Camelot pretty obsessively for a while (from Beta until way after Shrouded Isles). Nightly, say. But time passed and we wandered away. However, with the new trial on FilePlanet, I was considering giving it another whirl, at least for the free 7 days. So who’s still playing? Who’s in a cool guild? Who wants to powerlevel us  ? And how has the game changed?

I play, I have characters on most servers, except for Co-op. I haven’t been playing lately, as they are making some major changes with RVR, and having battle grounds for every level 1-35. My main characters are on Guin, highest is still only 35, been playing since beta. check out the herald pages for all the changes, and look me up on guin for some help Rakanishu, 35 kobold shaman.

I was shocked to find a call to Mythic got our old accounts back and our characters were still there. So I deleted all my old alts, kept my main, and started the Bonedancer I’d been planning to play. We’re on Perc/Midgard, level 4 Bonedancer and Runemaster.

Played from launch for about 6 months, then quit and went back to EQ. Started a new account last September when I finally got pissed for good at EQ. Played Horizons for a bit, but am full force on DAoC now, until WoW comes out.

Currently play a healer on Mid/Morgan.

Can’t help you much then, my albs are on perc. :frowning:

Me! Me!

I have a 47 skald, Amaravasa Das, on Guinivere. Go Midgard! I’m a guild leader in the Skulls, one of the larger guilds on Guin. I also have a 38 healer and an 18 spiritmaster. But Amara, my skald, is my first love.

Feel free to look for me, I’m there most nights!

I’ve played on Guin since release, with a six month break recently. I retired my beloved primary, a warden named Eithne, and when I came back from break brought out my heroine Aoife. I will not play ToA though. I never liked the timesink aspect of MMOGs and am really only playing weekends, when, in spite of my hand-me-down armour, low realm rank, and the fact that I can’t seem to level past 47, my guild takes me out to RvR.

Waiting on Frontiers to see how things change then. Hopefully the game will still be playable for the ultra-casual, which is what I am now. With Eithne I was pretty serious, but it was just taking too much of my leisure time.

Look forward to running into some of you Guinnies in battle

OOooh, we loved Guin, though I think we were dirty, dirty Hibbies at that time. I’ll have to consult with my comrade in Vikingness and see if we’d rather spend our playtime over there. Assuming we could get invites, what classes do you need?

I played a Skald for a while and loved it, until I got to RVR, where I usually wound up dead.

I would be willing to switch over to Guin. My favorite class is RC Runemaster, but I’m willing to give anything you need a shot.

I’ve only ever played in Midgard on Guin, so my experience with the other realms has been: KILL THEM! Though I don’t do much RvR really, I just jump in when defence is needed. Mids are really underrepresented on Guin in RvR, like with any other server, but we’re hardy and hale and ARRRR!

Yeah… I’m not much on RvR. I’m a very good player, but… RvR is way, way too fast paced for me. I can’t keep track of my groupmates and the enemy and fight at the same time! So whenever I RvR it’s basically just when the damn Hibs or Albs have taken too many of our keeps and we need a defense team. I basically stick to my 50 shammy friend and run speed, and try to mezz whatever I can.

I so, so love my skald. I’ve been playing her for almost 2 years now. It’s taken me this long to get this high level because, as a guild leader, I end up helping the “kids” out and playing a lot with my lower level spiritmaster to help out the newer guildies.

A few notes on changes to the game. Since the addition of SI and ToA (which I loathe) and since the introduction of “windowed mode” where you can Alt Tab out, there’s been a HUGE increase in “botting”, where people powerlevel a shaman or healer up to 50, then log 2 accounts and have their shaman or healer bot follow them around to buff/heal. It’s frustrating as all hell for “real” shamans/healers, because they actually find it hard to get groups because it seems like everyone has their own shammy/healer bot.

New Frontiers looks crazy. Like I said, I’m not that great with RvR so I’m still wading through all the stuff on the Herald website trying to make heads or tails of what’s going on, but it looks cool as hell. I loved the SI expansion, but I loathe ToA. Like someone above mentioned, it’s a huge time sink, and it’s… confusing as hell to me. Plus, while the underwater combat is cool, it’s basically just a pain in the arse.

We’d love new members! I’m usually on at night, like I said, my skald is Amaravasa. You can also look for Berglmir and tell him you know me. We’re an easygoing guild–we’re mostly about helping each other out and helping the younger/newer players out when we can, and making the game fun for all. We’re hoping to get more into RvR and Frontiers once I hit 50 (which WILL BE SOON DAMNIT) and anything you want to play is welcome. We do seem to be caster and shaman heavy, but check out our website for more idea on what we have. We were up to 103 members a few weeks ago, making us the third largest guild, if you discount the 3 “starter” guilds!

Looking forward to seeing some of you on Guin!

Yea, I didn’t know about the starter guilds, but it IS a great idea. We’ll be in touch and mooching levels shortly!

When you start a new char now, you’re in a “starter guild”, based on what starter town you’re in. They’re: Aegir’s Adventurers, Svealand Explorers, or South Midgard Association. If you count those out, the Skulls are the 4th largest guild. Not that quantity = quality in all cases, but we have some great people that love to help.

Woohoo! I was reading about New Frontiers and experience in RvR is gonna be SUH-WEET! I lurve RvR.

We’re in. Finnsek (Spiritmaster, or soon will be) and Arligine (Runie, or soon will be). We’ll bother the guild once we get our act together.

Great! Look for me, I’ll be on tonight and most of tomorrow I’m sure.

I’d be joining in too, but since Friday I have been getting a render creation failed error. Strange, I haven’t changed anything (drivers, or video card)

Mythic’s support info on Render Creation Failed errors.

Glad I saw this thread: my guild’s gotten 2 new members. And I’ve hit level 49! Woo.

Good luck, BonoVox… I’ve had similar problems and found Mythic’s tech support to be a great help!

I definitely still play, though not as hard-core as I once did. I play on Hib Pellinor and have a 50 Light Eld, 50 ranger, 50 druid and 50 bard, not to mention a boatload of alts for all the different BG’s. Also LGM spellcrafter, tailor and soon to be armorcrafter.

As you can see, I’ve played Hib exclusively, but I’ve had thoughts of trying out Midgard on another server. I’ve hesitated to do so, because the thought of starting from scratch with little money, etc. is intimidating after all this time. If I see enough of you playing Mid on this thread, I may have to /level a 20 char and come beg for some gold.

I’m really looking forward to the New Frontiers expansion. I helped test it some on Pendragon and it really removes a lot of the frustrating aspects of RvR. It is so easy to find a fight and get there quickly with the new expansion.

If any of you want to try Hib for the first time, come to Pellinor and look me up. I’m usually playing Gondolfrendel, Jammerr or Jaammer and would be happy to hook you up with crazy amounts of gold and some of the best spellcrafted armor you can find.

Jammer

I just downloaded the beta update and copied my main char over to Pendragon, so I’m hoping to check out NF soon. But not till after I hit 50! Which could take… forever at this point. If you’re ever on Guin in Midgard send a tell!

Sup Guildie? Hail, Skulls!

Yea, I don’t know if this has changed, but when I played, starting over SUCKED. Because you’d be able to get enough cash together for some basic armor, then you’d hit 5 or 6 and it’d turn blue and the next armor was crazy expensive.

I’ve played all the realms pretty far in (18 Alb, 13 Hib, 23 Mid) and I think Midgard is the most fun. It’s not the prettiest, that’d be the Rolling Golf Courses of Hibernia, but it’s the best laid out and most of the starting areas are pretty good. Albion had the one I hated most–you start in this forest where you can’t see more than ten feet and a little ways out are these superhard undead that will eat your n00b face. It’s not too bad for a melee class, but I usually play ranged types and when you can’t see more than ten feet, it’s pretty hard to kite.

Plus…you’re playing a Viking, dude! Vikings are incredibly cool! Yea, the giant fireball of an Albie wizard is pretty cool, but there’s nothing cooler than the Thane’s giant hammer coming down to smack things.

Pretty? Bah! We’re Vikings! Pretty is for those tree huggers in Alb and Hib!

A new to Midgard guildie got lost one day and couldn’t get his bearings. I asked “What do you see around you?” and he goes “Um… some rocks?” He kept walking and giving me updates. “Uh… more rocks. Oh, bigger rocks. Hey, there’s a bunch of rocks all together. Wait, some rocks AND wooden doors. Oh, that’s Jordheim?”

Heehee. Midgard: all rocks, and some wood. Welcome to the Norse way!

One of these days I’ll try out the other realms, I just have yet to get bored with Midgard. Plus, I love being a Norsewoman wielding a two handed glowing purple sword!
