Do you know why the movie is called Darkness Falls?
Because that’s the name of the town! Why not put out ads stating “We invite all things evil and murderous to come live in our humble town!” while you’re at it?
Oh, and the reason the movie ads are so vague about the “monster”? Who’d go to see it if they knew the chief monster was…The Tooth Fairy!
The review I read (I think in the Indy Star www.indystar.com ) said it was not scary. If you’ve seen scary films before, they said, you’ve seen these effects before, except for the chief villain, which seems to be a black negligee on a wire.
Just got back from it. Nothing new under the sun, sad to report. Didn’t jump once  Same ol’ cheap scares including the required “sudden cat” and the overly loud musical sting instead of something actually frightening.
Of course it didn’t help that the theatre was full of yakking dolts (4 cell phones and innumerable conversations) which meant I wasn’t allowed to lose myself in the movie, which is necessary for a horror movie if you want to be scared. From here on, I’m only watching horror movies in my own home by myself with all lights out.
Meh. It’s your 8 bucks. Personally, I’d have enjoyed it more had I gone earlier in the day or on a different night. The crowd really spoiled most of the experience.
