Daughters birthday coming up - Ipod or Ipod Mini?

This may be a silly question, but you can jog with these things and they won’t skip or otherwise malfunction, right?

For the most part - Mr. K and I have both had instances (all in the car FWIW) where it will stop mid-song and go back to the main Playlists screen. Not often - he’d had it happen maybe once or twice with his before I ever had it happen with mine, and no rhyme or reason that we can deduce. We weren’t going over particularly bumpy roads at the time (OK, we live in Missouri, but still!). I’ve had mine since Feb. and can only think of 2 instances. He’s had his since August of last year and it’s happened to him maybe 4-5 times.

It’s a minor glitch and one I’m happy to live with since the POS CD player in my car scratched up a good portion of my collection.

I know people who go cross-country skiing with their iPods.

I don’t have an iPod, but I do know that since it’s a hard drive inside with rotating parts and all and not a memory card with non moving parts, it can skip. Probably not nearly as easily as a cd player, but there is definitely the possibility.

Get her the full-sized, keep the reciept, then tell her that if she’d rather have the mini you’ll gladly trade it in for her in the color of her choice.

Which models use a memory card instead of a hard drive?

None of the iPods do.

You’re looking at a flash-based player, which usually only holds up to about half a gig… Or at least, I don’t think I’ve seen any bigger ones.

Ipods have a memory buffer which holds enough data for 25 minutes at 128 kbps, the hard drive only spins up to refresh the buffer when it’s almost empty.
