Dave Matthews = SATAN! (Also: High School Speech)

Listen Chump, saying things about Dave is one thing, but if you start on Tokiwoki, I will make sure they never find your body. Ok?

Anyone ever see that Pink Panther cartoon in which the Pink Panther and his nemesis, The Little Guy in White, were neighbors, and LGiW comes over to borrow a shovel or something of that nature? Well, one thing leads to another, one of them chops down the other’s tree, I don’t know, but all of a sudden, it’s WWIII right there in the front yard over property upkeep.

Now I’m not saying Dave Matthews is or is not Satan. However, I feel a force of darkness when I see people viciously defending him, and I see it a lot. If this cartoon reflects real life, which it does (until the Pink Panther suddely drives an army tank from behind his house), Dave Matthews’ influence may lead to something much bigger and much more threatening than we mere mortals can comprehend. Maybe he isn’t the Devil, but he could certainly be one of his minions.

In the high school paper a few years ago, a student wrote a column about the “Three Greatest Rock and Roll Bands of All Time.”

For number one the columnist listed the Beatles. For number two he listed some other British band either the Stones or Zeppelin, I can’t remember which. Number three, was Dave Matthews !

It wasn’t a satire. :frowning:

Hey, All I know about DMB is I had a good time at their concert. Y’all seem willing to crucify him for that, though. Hey, from me to you, here’s a piece of advice-GROW THE FUCK UP! Sheesh, I have NEVER seen such a bunch of empty, loser, lonely, whiny posters in my life! Don’t like his music? Here’s a hint ( and it’s just sooooo damn hard)- DON’T listen! Aren’t there REAL things in your life that need attention? Jesus, God, y’all need a life if you actualy care about this! Y’all need a lobotamy. Life would be peceful then. And the real poeple on these boards could ignore you.

Weirddave is right again.

I’ve never heard a Dave Matthews song, or been to a Dave Matthews concert, and I couldn’t pick the guy out of a police lineup.

And I’m pleased to say that he doesn’t bother me at all!

I like some individual Dave Matthews songs. However, the long concert jams lead me to believe that he is, if not Satan himself, high up in the Dark Lord’s organization. Because if there’s one thing I hate, after fascism, it’s jam bands.

Tokiwoki, bear in mind that I can’t hear his music. I looked up his lyrics on the net (yes, they are on the net) but I can’t figure them out. They seem to be disconnected or something…My friend she her fav song was 41 but I can’t make sense of that either. Must be a hearing person thing?

I honestly dont understand how you people can honestly believe Dave Matthews is the devil. You try to make convincing posts, but when you refuse to actully refer to him and can only say “the devil” your arguement loses almost all credibility.

What I do want to say is this: I am the proud owner of three DMB albums(four discs) and I will admit that DMB has a sound that it aquired taste, even more so to people who listen to mainly pop (not so saying that anyone in this thread is one of them…). I suppose that a lot of people wouldn’t really be wrong to just write them off as a bunch of potheads that you dont care about, but I find that their music is pretty good, and they dont sound like they’re high or anything to that effect.

I’ve never been to a show, so I cant really say anything about those, but I imagine they would be pretty good.

I also want to say that I second weirddave in saying that if you dont like their music, just don’t listen.

As someone who’s both hated and really liked (not loved) Dave Matthews (as well as his band), I’d like to speak my piece.

I hated, I mean HATED DMB all through high school. Every song I heard just drove me nuts. Then I got to college and a good friend of mine really liked him and forced me to actually sit and listen to the music. Then Crush (not Crash) became popular, and you know what? I really, really liked it. I was a fun song about being crazy in love.

I realized the reason I hated this guy was because I hated his fans in high school — the same jocks/stoners who loved the Grateful Dead ( a band I still hate) and Phish (another band I hate). I still don’t like DMB to the point where I own all his albums, and I think his idea of releasing 800 live albums is a little silly, much like Pearl Jam.

What I don’t get is people who are about nothing BUT Dave Matthews. I mean, Radiohead is far and away my favorite band, but if someone were to describe my musical tastes, they wouldn’t just say “Radiohead.” However, I know several people who I could just say “Dave Matthews” in response to that question. That has nothing to do with Dave Matthews, but rather fans who need to get a life.

As to whether he’s Satan, I think if you believe that it’s a self-fulfilling prophecy.

What about people who are indifferent to DMB?

I cannot believe how seriously people are taking this! I just thought it’d be a funny topic! I know that I don’t have to listen to it. I know that he is not ACTUALLY the devil. Have you ever said things you don’t mean just to say them? Regardless, I will forever despise his music and his evilness.

I don’t know if this has any relevance, but, since I started the thread, I don’t care. I had a dream about four years ago with DM in it. I was in a limo, wearing a fancy dress. He got in and took my hand. The strange thing was that his hand was no bigger than an infant’s. What’s that all about?
