David Brock, Media Matters, and the IRS

I got in a discussion with my mother about some of the finer points of political discourse.

She made the claim that the IRS had David Brock in court over financial irregularities.

Looking into it, I find that some groups have made the claim and accusation that Brock’s companies have acted improperly, but I am unable to find anything about any actual court filings or charges.

I’m not sure where the best place to look is, but I would think that there would be a news story about an actual criminal complaint.

So, my question is, is there any there, there? Is what Brock accused of an indictable crime, and is there any merit to the accusation?

So far a filed complaint in or before April seems to be all there is.

Thanks, that’s far more even than most of the headlines I found.

Is there actually any way to tell if there is anything happening in the background on this, or just wait until an indictment is made (or not made)?

I’m sure anything that goes beyond the complaint would be public record and you wouldn’t have to do any digging up yourself- somebody in the press will find it first and a simple Google search would find articles about it.

Hmmm, thanks for clearing that up.

I suppose that this is the end for this thread unless or until there is any further action on that front.
