David Letterman on Nightline: Up Close

So, who saw this last night? More importantly, who taped it? I thought Dave was to appear on Nightline and set my vcr accordingly. Unfortunately, I ended up cutting off the last 10 minutes. :smack:

For those who saw it, what did you think? It’s weird seeing Dave act, uh, normal. The last time I saw him interviewed was with Barbara Walters in 1992.

Oh MAN! I’m completely bummed! I had no idea!

If anyone taped it, i will pay you good money to borrow it.

stoid

It was good, but alas I didn’t tape it. Dave seems like a fairly deep, and somewhat dark, individual.

I was busy when he was interviewed, could anyone give me a summary/highlights? Thanks.

Here’s the transcript…

Viva Dave!

This is somewhat related.

During the “Best of Stern” rotation on the Stern show this week (I think on Monday) they had an extended segment with Letterman that was really fascinating, and was played straight. I know in the past they’ve had a guy in that does a really good Letterman impression, and I was assuming for a while that it was the impressionist. It kept going, and was so nuanced and natural that I was eventually pretty much convinced it was the real Letterman. But I’m not absolutely sure.

After the ABC broadcast, I was more convinced. I think Dave’s had an interesting life, but that he really doesn’t think much of his achievements.

I checked the ABC News store and copies are available. Uh, they’re $29.95 each, but they’re available.
