David O. Russell's "Soldier's Pay" Airs Tonight!

David O. Russell, the director of the Gulf War-themed film “Three Kings,” directed a documentary about a real-life incident that parallelled the events in his film. Because the movie indicts the Bush administration’s handling of the military, Warner Brothers declined to include it on a new SE version of the film. Tonight, the Independent Film Channel (IFC) will show the documentary at 9:35 EST and again at midnight. The movie strives to present several points of view and is not merely an exercise in Bush-bashing.

One of the Iraqi actors from “Three Kings,” speaking as a real-life victim of Saddam, says “I say to these people who protest [and] oppose the Iraqi liberators, I want them to go and stay one month under Saddam rule.” A Vietnam veteran compares Saddam to Hitler and says he admires President Bush’s “intestinal fortitude” in confronting him.

More typical are Blaine Willis, a Navy medic, and his wife, Erica, whose car is decorated with the bumper sticker: “Proud Military Wife/Not Voting For Bush.”
