I’ll never understand VH fans. Sammy by light years. It’s like comparing a Lamborghini to a Pinto.

Roth is a marginal talent. He can’t sing (never could). He can’t play an instrument. He can’t write music. Yet he thinks he’s the hottest rock star to ever live. The man is an absolute clown. Watch him jump around like an idiot during instrumental sections, unwilling to let the other musicians get any attention. Roth is an embarrassment to the rest of the band and to VH fans.
The fact is, it’s a front man’s job to sing. Everything else is nice but if he can’t sing, the additional stuff gets old. And Roth can’t sing.
David Lee Roth is tied with Gene Simmons for the biggest clown in rock.

Man I see that totally differently. Roth could scream his ass off, was good looking, a perfect frontman for a California party band and he wrote almost all the lyrics (as contrite as much of them are) for all their songs he was a part of.

I just never felt that Hagar’s vocal sound was a good fit for VH, unlike Roth’s.

On Van Halen III Eddie had Gary do his best Sammy impersonation. Outside of Van Halen, Gary Cherone is a better singer than Sam or Dave.

Same here. I don’t and have never owned a single Van Halen album, so it’s not like you could call me a Van Halen fanboy or anything like that. I do like their work, though. But that all tends to be DLR-era work and I prefer his vocals, too (for Van Halen).

Sammy is a better lead singer, David is the better lead singer of Van Halen, if that makes any sense.

That expresses my conflicted opinion as well.

I am an easily offended feminist, but by og, I loved the *Hot for Teacher *video, especially the baby Van Halens.
And Eddie walking on the tables.
