David Webber, Honor Harrington and death

So, I’m reading Storm from the Shadows, the latest David Webber book in the Honorverse. It’s not a direct line story, but one of the spin offs from his Shadow of Saganami line (as opposed to the Crown of Slaves line).

Anyway, while I don’t want to give too many spoilers here, I’m not going to bother with spoiler tags…so, read on from here at your own peril!
My question is…should Webber have killed off Honor in the last book of the main series (At All Costs)? According to the forward in Storm, Webber originally intended to kill her off a la Nelson at the battle of Trafalgar. Instead he decided to, apparently, branch the story off into multiple story lines (the main line with Honor, presumably, a covert/spy line in Crown of Slaves with more books to come in that line soon, and of course the Shadow of Saganami and now Storm from the Shadows line). Do you think this was the way to go, or should Honor have died gloriously in the final defense of the home system in what was, perhaps, one of the most epic and bloody battles in Sci Fi history?

Frankly, yes. Actually I think Weber has been stretching his credibility for quite some time with this death exemption for Honor in what were progressively more and more deadly fights, while around her, most of everyone has been killed. I did not particularly like the last few battles, because they seemed to rely too much on the power of the offensive and too little on what made the first small engagements in On Basilisk Station and later so fascinating – less of Horatio Hornblower in space and more of MAD in space.
But that may be just us, and the fact that I could part with Honor more easily than I would have, for example, from Jack Aubrey; she’s just not that likeable.

Yes I would.
I think Weber has milked Honor Harrington dry. I don’t see a future to the series, unless in the next book Haven and Manticore face together Earth.
When is the next book in the series due?
