I’m a DC metro native, but I can’t say I’ve ever tried to get good crab legs in autumn. My cousin from New Mexico is coming to visit the first of November, and wants crab legs BADLY. He hasn’t had them in 15 years and wants your standard king or snow crab legs. What places in this area will still have decent legs this late in the season? He’s not into the “whole crab” thing, with digging out the guts and all. Any suggestions?
You could call the Red Lobster chain and ask. If still in season, Annapolis would be a nice, scenic place to take someone for seafood. Or even Baltimore, along the waterfront.
Here in Colorado I get good crab legs all year round. IIRC, crab legs are cooked & frozen as soon as they’re caught, so “freshness” isn’t really a factor. As long as they haven’t been in the freezer for several years, they’re fine.
