DC Dopers, come help celebrate the GeoBill engagement!

Since my mom’s house isn’t kid-proof, and the occasion is really one that wouldn’t be of any interest to kids, it has been decided to make it adults only.

Regretably, and in no way related to the ‘kids’ issue, I will be unable to attend. The client has decided that this weekend would be a good time to run validation scripts on the latest stability release for a major enterprise piece of software, and I’m to be part of it.

Lovely. There are days when it’s better to not be noticed.

So, sadly, I’ll not be there, but I wish you an excellent party, and it’s even half as exciting as your future life, it’ll be one hell of a shindig!

Reston? Are you USGS employee #XXX?

We’re thrilled about you and UncleBill. Let me know where to send a tiny pink & blue rock hammer.

Warmest wishes, Geobabe!

Nah, Mom just lives there. I do work for Interior, but a different branch, the Park Service.

And thank you.

Attention, partygoers: The party is still on, but one of the guests of honor will be late. Due to an unforeseen problem, UncleBill will not be arriving until 5, so y’all can take your time getting there as well.

A splendid time was had by all.

So, anyone figured out where we can get a Chico Marx hat yet?

Cool seeing you again, RT. I missed the Chico Marx part but thanks to Geobabe for passing out her stuffed animal collection to the guests! Penguins (including Opus), Taz Devils, and one I couldn’t resist, a fuzzy Baby Seal! Awww. My kids were delighted.

This is Jomo, I’m back home now! I wrote the above post. This morning I was over at Muslim Guy’s house and used his computer. He didn’t tell me he was already logged in to the SDMB so now my post went out under his name. I e-mailed Arnold Winkelreid about it and he suggested I post again to explain what happened. Now I’m negotiating with Muslim Guy 'cause he owes me one for raising his post count at my expense! Anyway, great party, GeoBill, sorry I couldn’t stay longer!

Sorry, but I was listening to The Pirates of Penzance on the way down and on the way back. It seemed appropriate, somehow.

Lise, Bill, your love is wonderful to behold. Although frankly, all that sneaking off to the kitchen to suck face was a little out of line.

To all the Dopers and non-Dopers in attendance, Thanks for showing a New Yorker a good time.

And, RTFirefly, my everlasting thanks for your overnight hospitality and the delicious breakfast. The directions were perfect. My trip home went without a hitch. And please tell Charlotte that she’s welcome to share my bed, sit on my chest and kiss my nose again anytime she wants.

I tell ya, every time another man spends the night, she’s in his bed. Shameless hussy.

It was great to see you again, Dave, and I’m glad the trip home went smoothly.

And to the tune of “Hooray for Captain Spaulding”, of course:

Hooray for Bill and Lise,
the happy Doper couple,
and soon they’re getting married,
hooray, hooray, hooray!

Jomo, it was great to see you again, after these many moons. Though before I scrolled down enough to see your most recent post, you had me scratching my head a moment - “Muslim Guy? I don’t remember the Muslim Guy!” Then I scrolled down, and everything was clear.

Geobabe, thank your mom again for me (and for everyone else, I’m sure) for letting this crazy crowd come in and take over her house.

Anita, the food was wonderful, and it was great talking with you again.

Bill, it was great to see you again. You and Lise are so sweet together!

And everyone else (including Lise’s off-board friends, who were definitely cool), great to meet you, or see you all again, whichever applies. I’ll be looking forward to seeing y’all Saturday - those of you that are there, anyway - when we move Weirddave.

Chico hat image

Stoopid Geocities won’t let me see the damn picture right now; guess everybody clicked at once. I’ll try again later.

Thanks to all who made it! It was wonderful that you all could share the happiness with us, and of course it’s always good seeing all of you.

What, we should have sucked face in the living room where all of you could watch? I don’t think so.

Geobabe and Bill, thank you for the honor of sharing your happiness. I had a wonderful time and was thrilled to see you both so happy.

Also, mad props go out to Geobabe’s Mom for allowing us to take over Chez Geobabe’s Mom for the evening, and also Anita for the lovely spread. Thank you both very much.

It was great to see everyone there and I can’t wait to see you all next week when we break. . .er. . .I mean move Weirddave’s stuff.

Zap!

Oh, like you didn’t do that, too?

Okay, you’re entitled, I guess. Far be it from me to stand in the way of true love.

By the way, here’s a better picture. Still don’t know where you can get one, though.
