DC: Is Memorial Heights a nice neighborhood?

I’m hiring a private investigator to take some pictures of my old girlfriend whom I have tracked to an address in Alexandria, specifically Memorial Heights. Does any one know if this is a nice area? I don’t want a guy taking pictures to stand out, also I want to know if she is living well.

Thanks
Cobra

I think most of Alexandria is nice. The Old Town Alexandria area is very touristy & probably high priced for rentals/real property. I don’t recall a Memorial Heights. Do you mean Arlington Heights?

Reading off the map that comes up when I put the address into Yahoo! Maps, I see Memorial Heights, Bucknell Heights, Groveton Heights, and Valley View. I don’t actually see Arlington Heights anywhere.

The address is close to Beacon Hill Rd intersecting Richmond Highway.

Your best bet would be to call the Alexandria Police Dept. and tell them you’re thinking of buying or renting in the area, & what is their opinion for safety, crime, etc. They have a site:
http://ci.alexandria.va.us/police/

You could also find a real estate company in that area & do the same.

I can’t remember being in an area of Alexandria that didn’t seem safe. Some places are more expensive than others.

Cool - thanks for the link Violet!

With all due respect, why is her lifestyle any of your damned business?

It isn’t. I’m not the one hiring a private investigator to take clandestine photographs of an ex-girlfriend that I have been “tracking.”

This is a public forum for opinions. In My Humble Opinion, your actions fit the pattern of a stalker. But I admit that I don’t know for certain that you are one.

Beacon Hill and Richmond Hwy? That’s, like, 5 minutes from my apartment. I shop at the Giant store there.

Oh my god . . . I’m not your ex-girlfriend, am I?

I’m no stalker. We went out for a few years in High School and College, were going to marry, but we were too young, it didn’t work out, etc etc. Now, about ten years later, I managed to stumble across her current address purely by accident while dicking around on the Internet people search looking up a bunch of people I used to know - she has a unique name. I always wondered what happened to her - I don’t plan on doing anything psychotic, I just want to see what she looks like. That’s all.

Sorry if I may have overreacted - all my friend think it’s funny to call me a stalker for deciding to do this, so I’m a little sensitive.

I’ll never forget her - her name was Patricia L Dennison. Only kidding.

Well, I probably overreacted too. It was a gut reaction. Have you considered writing a letter?

I think actually writing a letter to her leans a little towards the stalking thing - “Hi! It’s Cobra! I found your address on the Internet, so I thought I’d write you a letter ten years later!” I don’t want to talk to her - just see what she looks like. She’s probably married now anyway. Besides, it’s possible it’s not even her.

Actually, that’s exactly what I did, except that it was email. She replied, we caught up on what we’ve been doing. She’s married, I’m married, no one is stalking anyone, and our mutual curiosities have been satisfied.

Sounds exactly like the plot from There’s Something About Mary. Remember, Cobra, Rice-a-Roni hasn’t moved to Washington DC.

I went to HS right there. My dad is still there. To answer your question, a five minute walk from that intersection will bring you to $1M homes, and low income housing.

Does that help?

Uekte, you’re not fooling anyone. Go away.
