True. I’m going out on a limb and saying I don’t think Jack’s the killer.
If either Mark Waid or Peter David are prima donnas, I’d be surprised as hell – everything I’ve heard about them says they’re friendly, appropachable, non-egotistical guys.
Though I know PAD’s slightly miffed that his comics don’t get promoted as “By New York Times bestselling author Peter David,” the way comics by other high-profile writers do.
ACK! Wrong thread. Please disregard…
In IC, Ron Raymond is still Firestorm. In Firestorm, he’s not.
I just read Flash #213 which at the end said that the next issue is an Identity Crisis crossover.
From what the issue said I now wonder if Linda Park-West was the first victim of the serial killer. What would be even worse is if she WAS the killer.
I’m told they’re going to handle that soon, I think in *Firestorm * #6. I guess IC is going to have fallout in a lot of books.
I hate this thread has been hijacked with that pointless creator-bashing (Boo, CandidGamera! Oh, wait. You started this thread, too…)
Every so often, I try a new monthly series, and I have to give it several issues before I’m truly hooked. When I collected PREACHER, I was hooked almost immediately. In SANDMAN, it was issue #6 – when Dr. Destiny caught the dreamers in the diner. In BLACK PANTHER, although I faithfully bought the issues for years, I didn’t truly get hooked until year 4, the Enemy Of The State II story arc. I’ve tried other series and have given up: FABLES, the ULTIMATE titles, Bendis’ DAREDEVIL…
Okay – It’s IDENTITY CRISIS #3. I just bought it. I’ve just read – quite credibly – how Wilson Slade just took out the Flash, Zatanna, Hawkman, Green Arrow, Black Canary, the Atom and Green Lantern using some explosives for misdirection, his sword, handcuffs, a headcover blindfold, and – this floored me – a freaking laser pointer.
I. Am. Hooked. Hooked and honorbound to buy this series to its conclusion.
Well, I came back to discuss the blurb on DC’s website describing IC #6, but I feel I had to address this. #1 - even if they handle it in Firestorm #6, that means the events of that book are taking place in the future of IC. The Robin problem will be sorted in a couple of months, I imagine - making me wonder if this is all pre War Games (the current Bat storyline) or post War Games. So, assuming the DCU ‘timepoint’ is lined up with IC, Firestorm’s book is ahead, Robin is either ahead or behind, and JSA, as it turns out, is behind. (The preview for November’s issue deals with Sue’s autopsy.)
Still, I imagine it must be difficult to line all these things up.
#2 - Need I point out the punniness of using ‘fallout’ in reference to the Firestorm title?
IC #6’s preview is all about the Big Bad Bat. Apparently the World’s Greatest Detective will be getting some serious ‘panel time’ in #6.
Okay, I was with you right up until Green Lantern. I love that Slade Wilson was able to take out the classic JLA - nearly. But - Kyle should not have gone in punching, #1. He’s not bright, but he’s brighter than that. And Slade shouldn’t have been able to interfere with his use of the ring. Last I heard, it was keyed to Kyle.
Actually, Slade should’ve been so flabbergasted that a person wielding a Green Lantern ring came in to punch him, that Kyle actually would connect, before Slade takes him out with a nerve strike or something.
Um, is Slade also known as Deathstroke? I’m confused.
Deathstroke the Terminator, AKA Slade Wilson.
CandidGamera. I’m at work for once, so I don’t have the issue handy – but I didn’t think Kyle went in punching… I figured Slade was moving so fast with his enhanced speed and reflexes, jumping around from Leaguer to Leaguer, that when Kyle was finally ready to zap him, Slade just snagged Kyle’s hand and… squeezed. Willpower juiced ring or no, it’s gotta be hard to concentrate when some guy trounces every powerhouse and speciality weapon hero on your team within seconds and breaks your ring-bearing hand.
The pose was suggestive of a punch, but it is possible Slade just got to him that quickly - personally, though, Kyle should’ve contained Slade and Dr. Light in a bubble the instant the gunfire took Ralph down.
And it was clear that Kyle had time to use his ring, and was trying to use his ring, and failing - and he’s managed in some pretty tough circumstances before.
BTW, have you folks checked out the DC message boards, and the ongoing speculations as to who the killer is?
I hate to say it, but there’s not a whole lot of logic going on in that place. I browsed through some of the threads, and I can’t help but wonder if a few months on the SDMB would help to refine the participants’ critical thinking skills. For instance,
You’ve got some people speculating that Ray Palmer is the killer, on the grounds that Jean Loring yelled out “Help me, Ray!” just before she was killed. It’s enough to make a grown man cry.
It might be nice to see what the SDMBers have to say about all the murder mystery evidence. I suspect that there’s not a lot one can say at this point though, being only three issues into this storyline.
I just read the first three issues. I was enjoying it until Slade, whom I know is a major league, nearly Batman-level badass, wiped out the League. (Question: Batman vs. Deathstroke, both are prepared?) I respect Slade, but NO WAY Green Lantern doesn’t stop him earlier…even if that whole thing was a 10 second time.
I’m curious about Flash…it looked like he bought it. Granted, I haven’t followed any storylines for quite some time, but I thought a sword through the chest (with a twist) would always be enough to take down the Scarlett Speedster permanently.
Hmm. I’ll have to reread the issue.
My big question is, how many more issues am I going to have to wait before Batman’s role in all of this is revealed?
The writers have obviously been trying to maintain him as sort of a background presence, - Ollie’s narration mentions him on practically every other page, and there’s been lots of Robin, but he has yet to appear as an acting character. Three issues in, even, and all we’ve seen of him is a flashback. And I work tonight, so I won’t be able to get to Dreamwell until tomorrow to find out (or does the new issue even come out this week? When does the new issue come out, dammit?)
It’s not out this week, or next week. September 15.
Didn’t I mention that? I could’ve sworn I mentioned that. #6.
Umm… two weeks, I think. Maybe next week. Not this week. Check dccomics.com.
So here’s what I don’t get.
In IC#2, Dr. Mid-Nite is performing his autopsy and finds out that Sue was dead before she was burned (he also says that this “sounds insane”, although I didn’t think it was too farfetched). So he calls up Oracle, finds out that the League is duking it out with Deathstroke and Dr. Light and tells Oracle that they’re going after the wrong guy, that Dr. Light didn’t kill Sue.
What? How does he know that? A couple minutes earlier he didn’t even know that Dr. Light was involved at all, and now he’s eliminated as a suspect because Sue wasn’t burned to death? Is there something in that scene I’m missing?
Hey! CNN is talking about IC!
