Can I put DDR2 memory into a system that normally uses DDR memory?
I’ve got the chance of some very nice DDR2 at a good price but I’m unsure.
It’d be great to have the faster stuff for when I upgrade but will it happily scale down from PC6400 to PC3200 ?

Not compatible, DDR2 and DDR have different pin configurations and will not even fit in the same slot…
grumble grumble just ordered the wrong ram for one of the machines I was working on…grumble grumble…

Not really. The number and configuration of pins on a DDR stick is different than on a DDR2 stick.
EDIT: beaten.

I opened this thread expecting a discussion of reminscences of East Germany.

Don’t feel bad, I thought it was going to be about memorizing steps for Japanese arcade dance games.
