Dead Animal Beer. The British are SO refined. Newslink

At well over $1800 US Per bottle, this beer comes in a dead animal! How great is that?!

Not very.

And the Brits complain about our beer…:smack:

I LOL’d

I want one. It’s so cute and alcoholic! It’s like having your vodka come in a Beanie Baby.

It also seems like something The Janitor on Scrubs would do.

Thought experiment:

If this was being made in Alabama and cost $15 a bottle, I would say it was cheap and tacky.

Walt

Yes. There is no other proof that some Brits are not refined. Thank the Lord you spotted this and realised it is actually a real product for people to buy rather than a piece of arty shock-tactic marketing. It will of course be lauded all across the UK and never described by anyone here as cheap or out of date or anything critical… Well, except for people in the article you linked to, but they are obviously not real Brits.

BTW, I’d like to change up some sterling to US dollars with you, please.

So, how wrong is it that if I could afford a bottle, I’d buy one without hesitation?

Yes, but they are talking about how it tastes.

It works out at $770 a bottle.

Or $192 per paw.

I just knew it was going to be BrewDog, those guys are wacky!

Yeah, BrewDog can hardly be seen as in any way representative. They’re a couple of Scottish jokers whose ability to make good beer is usually eclipsed by their ability to manipulate the media through publicity stunts*. They do make some fine beer though.
More than anything else, they’ve set themselves up as an envelope-pushing, more-is-better American-style craft brewery in contrast to the emphasis on subtle, quaffable session ales preferred by most British brewers. I prefer the latter approach myself, but BrewDog make some tasty and highly regarded beers.

*The hubbub began with ‘*Tokyo’, an 18% stout which at the time was the strongest beer in the UK. Anti-alcohol advocacy groups protested in the media, seemingly believing that your average hooligan would quickly switch from cheap twelve-packs of Stella to guzzling 330cl bottles of ‘*Tokyo’ at £9.99 a pop, and afterwards rampage about the country destroying society. In response, BrewDog released a 1.1% beer called ‘Nanny State’, which caused more controversy as they seemed to be making light of people’s concerns. Shortly thereafter they released Tactical Nuclear Penguin at 32%, at the time the strongest beer in the world. A German brewery, upset at losing their record, announced plans to brew a yet stronger beer, and in addition wrote BrewDog a somewhat condescending letter offering to sell them the secrets of brewing proper high-alcohol beer. BrewDog retaliated by brewing ‘Sink the Bismarck’ at 41%, which in addition to being the strongest beer in the world had the added bonus of making light of wartime death and destruction. And now we have this. God only knows what comes next.

I know a taxidermist and I now have the idea I need for the liquor bottle set I always felt I should have. So if squirrel season rewards me I’ll be all set.

See above and make some calls. I’m betting you could have some made for about $50 per or less.

Awesome.

Have any homebrewers here ever tried to make an ice bock? I’m pretty sure that’s how BrewDog makes their high alcohol beers. A friend and I are thinking about trying it this winter.

Gift idea for Hal?

I believe draught beer for bars is delivered in the bodies of dead Grizzly Bears and Lions.
