Flora: Actually, I got the reference. Maybe you didn’t get my reference of the reference. The villagers with torches in Frankenstein were motivated by ignorance and fear, because they didn’t understand the monster. I assumed you were smart enough to understand that reference and apply it to us, indicating that those of us who disagree with you are doing so out of ignorance and without thought.
Sorry if I misunderstood the depth of your thinking.
I guess you folks wouldn’t have appreciated my husband’s spirited rendition of “Ghost Riders in the Sky” last night, then. This is without a doubt one of the creepiest things I’ve ever heard, but I do think you’re being a little hard on Flora.
Hey, Flora, what about all those people who chalk up their victory to Nike shoes or Big Bertha drivers? Wouldn’t it be ironic if Michael Jordan died when a semi full of Air Jordans overturned on the freeway? Would you get a warm glow out of that? I see more damn commercials pushing shoes in my face than I have to put up with people talking about God.
My opinion of you just hit negative numbers.

And now, for my next trick, I will talk in spooky half-references.
That would be ironic, and hilarious in my opinion. You guys act like death is a big deal or something. We’re all gonna bite it at some point, some of us in ways that may be tragicly comic.
Flora never said she was happy about the death, just that she feels the warm glow of irony.
I don’t agree or disagree with her, I just think alot of people were shocked by what she said because people are so used to hearing only good things said about people after they die.
FTR, I wasn’t shocked by anything. Flora’s post was simply factually incorrect regarding the specifics of Stewart’s spirituality, and I thought it ought to be set straight.
And, OK, Ike, but only for you. Don’t tell anybody.
In addition to the victims, I also feel very sorry for the jet pilots. One of them way talking about how helpless he felt, flying next to the plane, knowing that the people in it were incapacitated and were probably going to die when the plane inevitably crashed, and he was 50 feet away and there wasn’t one thing he could do to help them. I don’t know that I could ever get over that.
