Dealing with movie theater bureaucracy.

So if your boss was a jerk you would break the law and sell booze to minors?

Yeah, I really feel for you. I remember, when I was a teenager, my parents wouldn’t take me to see R-rated movies at all. They said they didn’t want me exposed to all that sex and violence and strong language until I was older. I was convinced they were wrong, but they just wouldn’t give in.

So when I wanted to go to the movies, I was forced to

See a fucking PG-13 movie instead!
And you know, it wasn’t all that painful, and I still had a happy childhood, and all the R-rated movies I missed as a kid that were actually worth seeing I’ve seen on video by now.

Back up a second there, didnt you say that the security man let you in? Yes she sold you the tickets, believeing you had lost your originals. Make up your mind…

Usually, when you break a rule, it means your doing something wrong… Hence the reason for rules

And you think she was appreciative of the fact that some little guy got all up in her face because she had the nerve to do her job correctly and card someone for a movie he was not old enough to see? Believe me, Im pretty sure she could have done without the ‘rampage’ also.

So maybe her boss is super nice to her too, and therefore she cards minors also. Or does this rule only apply to you?
Theres a whole lot of inconsistencies here.

WTF? A selfish twit posts maloprop-filled whines about not being able to break rules with impugnity, insults someone who’s just doing her job, claims to be non-racist while simultaneously saying that this guy was acting like a black stereotype … and he gets such generally placid responses? Is this “be nice to newbie asshats day” in the pit or something?

OP, your story was indeed “full proof.” Full of shit, and full of proof that you’re an immature, spoiled brat who keeps digging yourself in deeper with every misguided post. Are you aware that the world does NOT owe you a damn thing, especially not the right to screw around with rules (or other people’s jobs) just because they’re slightly inconvenient to you and your pals? How do you know this “fat asshole” teller has “self-esteem issues”?? What the fuck do you mean by “acting like a black stereotype” – was this security guard eating watermelon & fried chicken while tap-dancing and saying “sho’nuff, bawss” to you? Are you implying that if your boss wasn’t nice you’d steal money from the drawer and hand out six-packs to junior high kids?

Grow up, shmuck.

On the upside, perhaps this new poster doesn’t make enough selling booze to pay the annual subscription rate, and we’ll be back down to our previous asshat/human being poster ratio in just a matter of weeks.

For $5.25 an hour I’ll be on time, in uniform, take tickets, and not sell directly to minors. That’s what a cashier at a movie theater does. Expecting them to interrogate people suspected of buying tickets for underage friends, follow to see that they’re the only ones going in the movie, or keep track of all purchases to make sure nobody is buying more than one are all unreasonable demands for the position.

She did not believe us. I mentioned before she said she did not believe us but that she would let us in anyway after I stuck to my story making her very unsure of herself.

But I am not upset about the rule I broke. I’m upset about the over reacting teller.

If she wanted to do her job then she should have done her job. From not on try to focus your arguments on the fact that she let us in after “doing her job” (going nuts.)

I’m not upset she carded me. She went frantic, that is what pissed me off.

I hope I cleared them up.

Choie, I won’t respond your moral diatribe. Sorry.

Also, I am through responding to anyone who tells me that the teller was doing her job, because I am well aware of that. If anyone is still upset and wants to argue, argue about the teller giving me attitude then and then selling me the ticket anyway.

What I would like to discuss is why John Kerry’s wife is refusing to release her tax returns especially since her husband make a big deal out of full disclosure as a campaign principle. According to Drudge, she submarined her husband with a rather Paris Hilton spoled brat rant. “This is my life, my business,” she said, “not John’s.” Setting aside the fact that she’s so wealthy that she paid cash for a mansion in Beacon Hill, aren’t liberals expected to be a bit more up-front than this about their finances? Does she dread her own philosophy? From each according to his ability and all that?

I assume this all came out when John and the missus were caught trying to sneak into a theater, hence the post in this thread…

Well, I heard that John Kerry and Theresa Heinz are strongly against sneaking into movie theaters under false pretenses. It’s going to be on the Democratic platform, in fact. That’s why Theresa has personally bought her own movie theater (with cash, too, that evil rich bitch!!!11) and John threw away his ticket stubs in protest.

They are the demands of the position, if you feel they are unreasonable then you don’t take the job.

Since people here have lost the argument, they have decided to hijack my thread.

Talk about Kerry all you want, I still have a valid point and you guys just do not realize it. All you can do from now on is get frustrated at the fact that you are wrong, and can not prove me wrong.

I’m surprised no one’s picked up on this one yet. You’re under 17, and can’t get into an R-rated movie, and yet you claim to work in a liquor store?
I smell bullshit. I don’t know where you live, but in most states, you have to be 21 to work in a liquor store.

Uh, hello. Obviously someone’s response to another thread accidentally was put in here. Some people with a sense of humor made a joke. No one is hijacking your thread.

Oh, sorry. I did not notice.

In brooklyn you have to be over 18 to work in a liquor store. I am 18, when did I say I was underage?

If anyone has any doubts then ask me a question only someone who works in a liquor store would know. If you fear I might look it up online then tell me the time you will post the question (EST) and I will answer it as fast as possible.

Ok firstly, how has anyone lost this argument? Is it because you think in your small little mind that the only right outcome is yours? Guess not, its not.

The Teller was doing her job corretcly, she didnt believe that you lost your tickets, but she gave you new ones because she cant prove that you gave them to some younger kids. And dont tell me she could, unless she saw you hand over the tickets to these other kids, then she cant. And your story hardly made her unsure of herself, she was probably just thinking “this kids going to give me sh*t over this, do I want to deal with it and cause a scene or will I just let it go”. Trust me, Ive been in plenty situations when customers think there right and demand replacements or whatever… doesnt mean they are right and should get what they want though.

So your upset about the Tellers reaction, not the rule. Seriously, are you for real?! Lets think about this one, the tellers reaction is because she didnt believe you lost your tickets and then questioned why you wanted new ones, prompting security to get involved, right? Well, see, if you hadnt broken the under age rule by giving your tickets away, then she wouldnt have reacted how she did. So basically, your upset at the outcome of your own actions… Cant say I have much sympathy for ya on that one!

In your own words, you said, you were let in after security got involved… now, if security had final say, and the teller is obliged to sell you tickets as she cant prove you gave yours to underage kids, how is it her not doing her job? If anything its security not doing their job, nut thats not the issue here.

And so she went “frantic” well you know what, I bet youd get ppretty pissed off too if some little kid came up to you in your off license and wouldnt back down about the fact that he was 18 and so on and so forth…

And no, you havent cleaered up any of your inconsistencies, if anything, your digging yourself into a hole, which is probably the reason why your now refusing to respond to the she was doing her job argument.

Ok, I give up. I was just fucking with all of you.

I was going to make a post about what if my tickets were actually stolen then would the teller’s reaction be uncool? I decided against it.

Props goes out to everyone that kept their cool while I argued against basic social norms. I know it can be frustrating when someone goes against your common sense, though finding a way to make a rational argument against it takes some skills. The other alternative would be to vomit your morals all over me, which I never appreciate since morals are relative from person to person.

Expect more topics like this in the future.

I don’t think so. We don’t like trolls around here.
