Dear CNN: I Knew Kennedy was dead.

I don’t really give a damn, either. I’m not thrilled to hear every damn year about the alleged “Conspiracy” that killed him. I think, if you put them all together, there’d have to be several thousand people there, all with guns and all aiming for him and working for everyone from the American Dairy Association to the Mafia. (If there’s a difference…)

But, hell. I realize that’s it’s a part of your pwecious youth that was so tragically shattered, when peace and love was ruined by one guy with a rifle.

It’s not my damn youth. I don’t care. I am tired of this growing trend of starting the week before every year and holding vigil until the fateful moment passes. I’d bet John Paul II will bump him into Sainthood, if he’s able to think about it.

So… can we cut it out? He’s dead! Gone! Brains blown out over the Caddy and onto everyone in the car. Buried in Arlington! Worshipped by Liberals the world over!

Oh, CNN ABC and the Discovery channel. I don’t care anymore who killed him. Honest. Do we have to devote front page space for a whole fucking week to this?

Hell… I’m not sure which one I’d rather have: Mikey’s latest jailing or this crap. I guess I’ll keep leaving the TV off and start skipping news.

Wait? Kennedy died? Damn, no one ever tells me anything.

Two of them, now. The Third gelded himself when he let his girlfriend drown.

THose Bastards! They killed Kenny! I mean Kennedy!

I’m still all upset about James Garfield.

I know what you mean.
I’m 32 and Kennedy means nothing to me other than once upon a time he was a president.

Most people (my age) that I know tend to know him for his bad traits, such as being a womanizer, instead of his positive ones.

Holy crap, Kennedy’s dead?!?!!? Does MTV know?

What’s so bad about being a womanizer? I mean, you hear all these comments that if a certain President was getting what a previous President had gotten we wouldn’t be in the mess we’re in now…

I hear ya, OP. I’m sorry he was killed but politically and personally, I don’t see it as a big loss. Especially after reading “The Dark Side of Camelot.” What a lech! Every year people act as if Kennedy were of the same caliber as, oh, Lincoln or Washington. Sheesh.

Rumor has it that Lincoln had “Jungle Fever.”

I was just thinking this afternoon that Congress should go ahead and declare Nov. 22 a national holiday: Conspiracy Day, or America Lost its Innocence Day, or American Martyrday. Making it a weeklong anticelebration is an even better idea.

I think we could get Hallmark to back this idea.

All this for a President whose crowning achievement was averting a crisis that he helped to cause with the debacle in the Bay of Pigs, and he only averted it because he had a spy that told him what cards Kruschchev had.

Other than the Cuban Missile Crisis he was at best a third-rate President. He was young and attractive and that was it. Based upon the fact that he just barely scraped by Nixon of all people, his administration was tenuous at best.

He is only great because of the way he died, at the hands of a skilled gunman from a great distance, live and in living color. If he had survived he’d be forgotten, Bobby wouldn’t have been killed, and nobody would even know who Teddy was.

Yeah, enough with it already, it’s been 40 years. Ack! 40 years!

Oh yeah, I remember the day. And there have been 14,610 days since then and things have happened on all those days too.

I didn’t know she was sick!

To be completely ghoulish, 10 years ago, I was watching a 30 yr Anniversary special on TV, the scene with little John-John saluting his father’s casket in the funeral procession came on & I muttered “That was the sign to let the Conspiracy know everything was going as planned.”

It took 10 min for my friend to calm down from hysterically laughing.

I am so glad you wrote this, because the “conspiracy theory” of Kennedy’s assasination, is quite frankly making me want to hurl. While there was every reason to mourn at the time, the ugly side of the Kennedys has been examined, and analysed sharply.

Why the news industry insists upon deifying the Kennedys is astonishingly silly at times because i was not born until 1978.

So long as Jello Biafra is still alive, it’s all good.

Come to think of it, General Francisco Franco hasn’t written to me in ages

It was about 10 years ago people finally stopped asking me “where were you when Kennedy was shot?”

I wasn’t fucking conceived yet.

Boomers, get over it. Yeah, it’s important. So was Pearl Harbor and the Space Shuttle exploding (both times). But everything passes into history and you have no right to get your panties in a twist because the next generation does not have direct experience of one of your precious “moments” and quite likely has a different take on it.

And I am so fucking sick of conspiracy theorists. Get grip.

i thought he was in a lincoln??

Kennedy was the last president to die while in office. We have to put up with this until another president dies in office. Any volunteers?

I remember the hot day in July 1999 when someone came into the office and said “JFK’s plane is missing.” My first thoughts were: The President’s plane is missing? But I thought he was already dead. Is this guy talking about the anniversary of his death? No, that was in November and he was shot. Am I in an alternative Sliders universe?
