Dear Zedd, you are a mouth-breathing moron

Link.

We were arguing whether or not it’s completely stupid and idiotic to believe, like Mormons do, that the Americas were colonized not by Asians from a land bridge in Alaska, but rather by a small group of people from Jerusalem in 600 BC. (Hint: it is.)

Somewhere deep in Zedd’s pin-brain, he decides that using the word “Jews” is anti-Semitic.

He has a microscopic point, in that these FAKE colonists from his FAKE book were Israelites, being from one of the other tribes of Israel. I don’t know anyone who gives a fuck. None of these people ever existed on any continent.

Why did I use “Jews”? Because it’s shorthand for Israelite. Because what Mormons believe and preach about the history of America is on its face absurd and stupid and probably offensive to real Jewish people.

What the fuck is your problem you fucking idiot? I understand that you think you’ve “got me” because I used the word “Jews.” What you don’t understand is fucking English, apparently. You are an idiot. I truly don’t know if you are completely witless or just a dishonest troll trying to provoke me. If the former, I’m truly sorry for you and your offspring. If the latter, mission accomplished.

Now, go off and shut your mouth if you really can’t understand the words you read on a messageboard. Moron.

Whose chopper is this?

Being as I am a sailor, your insults are…amateurish.
I read them to my son, an Army vet, just got back from Afghanistan. He laughed to.

Really? Jew is a ‘shorthand’ for Israelite? [Snort] Wonder what Dan would have to say about that? That is wrong in so many ways it is difficult to know where to begin [snort, sorry]. You are aware that Israel was about to go the way of the Notornis mantelli? As an ‘expert’ you are aware that Benjamin and Judah (along with a few Levites serving as priests) were of the Kingdom of Judah? I’m still not getting the use of jew as a hammer.

But, ok, I being a, what was that again…oh, yeah, a pin-brained fucking idiot[ic] (mustn’t forget the -ic) witless moron[ic] troll (hope you don’t mind I rearranged your eal-felo into a more poetic polemic), will accept your word. You didn’t mean to use the word jew as a slur. You meant Israelite. Got it. Thanks. [snort]

The noun “Jew” is a slur?

You mean Moroni.

Zedd is not dead, thank ya, thank ya vera much.

In Zedd’s world, apparently yes.

I’d still like to know how I am “slurring” Jewish people by making fun of the implausibility of Mormonism.

I doubt Zedd will be able to explain it, as he has trouble explaining anything in his posts.

See! Your confused to!

Nobody fucking cares. Now go jump in the Pacific.

Can you say context?

Too. Gotta love Gaudere.

I quoted my entire post above. Can you point to the context that makes it offensive?

It’s your post that confuses me.

In what way was Erdosain’s use of the word a slur?

 Madam, you are correct! Stabbed by my own poniard!

Erdo, mate, it’s a common rhetorical tactic. It’s called “Accuse, confuse, refuse.”

When you find yourself losing arn argument, make it about something else. In this case, he chose to make it about the distinction between Jews and Israelites and tried to portray your use of them interchangeably as a sign of anti-semitism. He knew that if he did that, you’d pay less attention to his superstition and would focus on his egregious claim of anti-semitism. You should have ignored it or perhaps reported him for accusing you of anti-semitism when it was clearly not warranted.

Frank, in erdosain’s efforts to be clever, he thought to belittle a book I hold as Scripture by calling to mocking the the main characters of the first book. His mockery included an ethnic group not related to those portrayed in the book. Truth be told, it was a minor thing, and as erdosain has hinted at, I understand his mockery was not at the Jewish faith, but rather at the Mormon faith. My point has been illustrated that in erdosain’s mind it is heinous to be an anti-semite, but not to be an anti-mormon. Erdosain is not Jewish. Neither is he Mormon. I am suggesting that bigotry is bigotry regardless whether it is aimed at the Jewish people, blacks, or even Mormons.

There is a difference between having a rational question about a faith, or even ‘faith’ itself, vs a personal attack against the people who hold the faith. Mormon theology is controversial. There are very valid reasons to question the validity of it in a philosophical discussion. On the other hand there is no room in a civilized society for bigotry. Unfortunately, in many circles it is ok to be an anti-mormon bigot. I find this a disturbing dichotomy.

I refer to myself as a Jew all the time. I had no idea I was being so anti-Semitic!

Thank you for the response. Your response in no way demonstrates that erdosain was using the word “Jew” in an anti-semitic manner.

I would also like to point out that I was a Mormon for 30 years and was raised in the religion. My parents continue to be very devout Mormons. I would describe myself as a thoughtful critic of Mormonism, but I don’t particularly care if someone calls me an anti-Mormon bigot (as Zedd has).

Being critical of a voluntary religious organization that recruits aggressively is apparently the same as being a racist in Zedd’s world. Duly noted.
