He was detained so he did go to jail, but I never said he should stay there. I do, however, hope he has bejezus scared out of him by the Secret Service. I do hope the Secret Service keeps a close eye on this asshole, and I do hope his being detained and scared will put a damper on some of this insane hysteria that’s going on. Not that that will happen.
Nah, in Chicago we just shoot them as an example for the others. Sure, they’ll be tracked down and killed, but they know why.
ETA: And threatening the guy AND his family? One should think long and hard about how much he loves his family before making such a threat, but the result is probably not pretty. “Probably” because most guys are as dumb as this one.
I learned the ways of the world from some of the greats. Yesterday Wife was bitching about the Wikipedia whitewashing of the end of the Big Tuna, since it was on her shift.
He should certainly be detained and thoroughly investigated. He may simply be a harmless crackpot (“What I meant, officer, is that in time death comes to all people…”) or he may be someone who represents a more immediate threat. At a minimum, he needs to be added to the Secret Service watch list, and if there’s the slightest scintilla of evidence that he was making a credible threat to harm the President or his family, he needs to be locked up.
No idea what that has to do with right-wingers.
Are you somehow of the impression that these nutcases that have been building up their little waste-the-uppity-black-guy wet dreams are leftists of some sort? Are you suggesting that it’s DEMOCRATIC lawmakers who are going on tv and appearing before their constituents mouthing outrageous lies about the healthcare reform program in ways that are frightening these folks into screaming fits?
I thought you were smarter than that. Or better than that, at least.
I once represented a woman who had a federal hold on her release from jail because she threatened President Bush. She was also bugshit crazy–I mean, real hunger-strike, invisible-bug, ear-biting crazy, not just someone who listened to too much left-wing radio. So yeah, you can get detained for a long time just for threats. I have no idea what happened to her–I simply had her for driving without a license. She’s probably still in Gitmo.
About as much as over the top enviro-warriors have to do with left-wingers - my guess is that most condemn them, a few quietly support them wishing they had the sack to do the same, and the nutters themselves account for a small percentage of the actual group. Nonetheless, there is a case to be made that it is irresonsible to fuel the sort of ignorance induced paranoia that leads to an increase in the second group mentioned above, lest they drift closer and closer into allignment with the last.
Well, now you know. Join the club.
Where were the Bush death threats from “left wingers”? Anybody remember any?
“Death to Michelle and her two stupid kids”
How does he know her kids are stupid?
The difference being, of course, that Democratic members of Congress weren’t egging on the anti-Iraq-War protesters, or ELF, or Earth-First. Whereas it’s more than amply demonstrated that the Republican Congressmembers are urging hysterical reaction to the healthcare plan. “Death panels”? Really? Chuck Grassley saying that Obama wants to kill your granny? Seriously? Chuck Grassley, who’s been working as hard as his shriveled little conscience can manage to put a stick in the spoke of the healthcare plan from the inside (well-aided by Max Baucus, supposedly a Democrat)?
Right. Dude’s gonna have some fun checking in at the airport for some time to come. It IS pretty standard for the Secret Service to keep an eye on anyone making overt threats on the top leaders, regardless of degree of real viability of threat. And with every administration, there’s always people in the fringe who act as if that were proof that they’re being extra-repressive.
I agree, and I meant that to be clear from my post, hence the “nonetheless” as a qualifier to my general agreement with what I understood Bricker to be suggesting (i.e., extremes don’t speak for the party). Anyway, if it wasn’t clear, I agree with you.
Maybe he meant “meddling” kids. Maybe it was old Jenkins, the janitor at the amusement park, wearing a rubber mask.
Okay, I misread you. Sorry about that!
That makes sense. I mean, who would have expected Sara Jane Moore would actually be dangerous?!
Death threats are, however, and this could be construed as such.
We’ve already had the nut who shot up a church full of people because he hated the liberals; we’ve had Dr. Tiller assassinated in church; we’ve had the Holocaust Museum killer; we’ve had the nut in, was it Pittsburgh? who killed three cops because he was convinced Obama was going to take his guns away. And that’s just in what, the first half of Obama’s first year in office?
But I agree with you; something horrible, something way more horrible than the above is going to happen.
And the right wing loonies will blame it on a left wing conspiracy, while the right wing bloviators who have egged on the rage will deny all responsibility.
What the hell is that? Is this in reference to some other thread or something?
Yep.
It’s a reference to RR being a douche.
They’re black, duh.
