Highly recommended! They have (among others) Samuel L. Jackson, Hugh Grant, Tracey Ullman, Lisa Kudrow, etc. satirizing prominent reporters and scientists, and the way big stories were covered this year.
Wife and I watched it the other day. Had a few chuckles. I liked the description of fire: “an angry, radicalized form of air”.
I thought this was excellent. The actress playing the clueless Brit was outstanding, as was the one playing the Karen. Tracy Ullman made an excellent queen.
All the Biden age jokes were hilarious. The jokes were coming so fast that I ended up turning on closed captions because I kept missing them.
Lisa Kudrow nailed the Trump spokesperson part. Bravo all around!
I found it had too many duds per chuckle. Couldn’t finish it. The whole feel was too “we’re all in on the joke”.
She’s called Diane Morgan and she is a regular collaborater with Charlie Brooker.
Check out her “Philomena Cunk: moments of wonder” on youtube. Comedy gold. Here’s one to get you started.
That’s excellent. Thanks for sharing it!
You are more than welcome, something that instantly quotable needs a wider audience.
“what is clocks?”
that’s a question we’ve all wondered about.
I just watched her COVID thing – she’s really brilliant! What kind of accent is that?
She’s from Bolton I believe, the Manchester area in the NW of England.
I thought this was pretty good, though really just like one of Charlie Brooker’s previous yearly round-ups, just with extra celebrities (who he can acquire now Black Mirror has raised his profile). And I did think it was a bit silly having Samuel L Jackson ‘playing’ a journalist - he was just being his usual screen persona. Whereas Hugh Grant’s crusty historian was probably my favourite.
Thanks again, except no thanks for the time drain as I watch more of her stuff.
I didn’t recognize Hugh Grant until they rolled the credits! I did recognize Samuel L. Jackson right off the bat, because I knew his name isn’t really Dash Bracket.
The scientist dubbed Pyrex Flask was a hoot too. “Got bat juice in his pee pee hole” - what is he, 7?
I particularly liked how he kept getting upset at the stock footage they were playing as he talked.
Pretty much a straight impersonation of the awful ‘parody of his own self’ historian David Starkey.
I loved Lisa Kudrow, nailed it.
Same here. Also amused by the scientist getting annoyed at the stock footage that was used.
I watched the black Boris Johnson over and over, and laughed every time.
