I’m down to a 20 minute mile, walking! For me, this is amazing news.
Wow - good work! I wish you continued success!
Just wanted to send a quick Happy Holidays message to you all. And remember, if you find yourself eating that third piece of pecan pie: it’s not whether you slip, it’s how quickly you get back up!
How are you going to handle the holidays? I’m going to do exactly what I did for Thanksgiving: watch my portion size, count my calories and try a little of everything. I am making some minor adjustments: for example, they want baked potatoes, and I’m getting a baked sweet potato. I think it will be a good day!
Tomorrow and Friday I will feast. Then I will return to normal.
There ya go! Sounds like fun!
I haven’t been into the weight loss threads for a while, but last night at Slimming World I got my target weight! In fact, I was half a pound under it so I’m very happy. Of course, I blew all the good work by celebrating with a bottle of champagne - but I reckon I deserved it. Now I can start planning Christmas food so that it fits in with my new maintenance plan, should be easy enough as I’ve not bought any sweet treats, but I will be indulging a little bit in my weakness for cheese.
Happy holidays, everyone!
Megacongrats to you! That is incredible news!
Thanks, Juliana, you’re making fantastic progress yourself from what I’ve been reading!
Congratulations, Scarey! That’s a fantastic achievement! I’m back in a holding pattern, but I’m okay with that now, since I understand that is how my body does this (drop a pound or two, hold for two or three weeks, drop a pound or two).
My thoughts on Christmas - instead of letting Christmas be a “throw healthy eating out the window” week, I’m aiming for “minimize the damage” week. Gaining a pound or two isn’t the end of the world, either, as long as I keep doing what I’m doing (tracking calories, tracking my weight weekly, exercise regularly, and aiming for healthy meals and snacks). We won’t discuss that Chinese food craving I had yesterday.
That’s the truth! Chinese food? Yeah, I understand. Somebody today had garlic breadsticks for lunch, and the smell - oh, the SMELL! - wafted gently into my office. Now I’m craving them. Oi.
Oh, I ate the Chinese food - it juuuuust fit into my food budget for the day. I sure didn’t get much food value out of it, though - all grease and salt. I’m not a believer in denying yourself things you’re really craving - that way lies a massive pig-out.
Y’all, I got on the scale this morning and I appear to have massively cracked my month-long plateau! It read 182.5 - I’ve been bouncing between 184.5 and 188ish for the past 4 weeks or maybe even a little more. Woot! All this running is clearly paying off, because I haven’t changed my eating habits much.
Hooray! go MsWhatsit!
I am going to settle for not having gained any during the holidays. Also, I took a week off running due to snow and am pleased to announce that I went back to it.
Good for you! I’m down a little too, which is a little surprising, considering Christmas Day was, well, let’s just say I didn’t bother recording my calories that day. Getting back in the routine is a little difficult, but it’s coming along. I think I’m going to have to put all the sweets away, though - I’m pretty good with having only a cookie or two a day normally, but with cookies and chocolate all over the house, it’s always in front of me.
Yahoo to everybody! I’d post more, but I’m going walking!
Okay, I’m home. You guys are amazing. It looks like we all did a super job this week.
How do you get motivated for the treadmill? Now that I’ve been walking outside, I can’t stand the treadmill. But today I have no choice. I like cold, and I like rain: just not together.
Yeah, the dreadmill blows. Can you watch TV while you’re on it? I think that helps.
Yeah, I can watch TV. But I’ll probably take my Sansa instead. Yesterday, I had my XM radio with me, and found the walk was more enjoyable with the 80’s channel instead of CNN Headline News.
Happy New Year, you guys! And just think: fitness is one less resolution we have to make, cause we’ve already done it!
I ended up yesterday throwing on my poncho and heading outdoors for the first walk. It was raining, but it was a nice walk. I didn’t feel so bad about getting on the treadmill later that day!
