Decode this beauty queen title

Amazingly, I am posting this from work and it’s actually a work-related question.

I have encountered a mysterious beauty queen title:

Elite Ms. Maryland All-Star U.S.

I need to figure out what organization bestows this title. Googling hasn’t helped me.

Any ideas?

I don’t really have time to search, but did you spell out “United States” and try it that way? Just in case you didn’t think of it.

This one?

I think that’s it. Their Rules page says the “Elite Ms.” category is for women age 30+.

Thank you!

Not to be snarky about it, but it is apparently not an actual beauty contest.

Yeah, I know. On the site they say they’re more interested in inner beauty. It could be an operatic farting contest for all I care; I just need to identify the organization.

At the school where I taught for many years, we had a “Junior Miss” contest. Entrants were judged on grades, other accomplishments, talent or skills, ability to answer questions seriously in interviews, essays, and so forth.

Judges were community leaders. Input was given by teachers also…we had a scoring card.

On the night that was open to the public, the entrants demonstrated their skills to the public. Then the winner, show and place were announced.

No gowns. No bathing suits. No embarrassing questions for entertaining the audience. It wasn’t a beauty contest, but the contestants were often quite attractive.

I thought it was a great idea, and allowed a number of students to showcase themselves in a very positive way…some said later that it helped with job and college interviews.

This may not be a part of the site that was referenced above.

Eeew. Laparoscopic judging, huh?!
