True. So late he isn’t really in the Real Bible ™ - the OT. The snake was not Satan, and my Hebrew School teachers and the prayers I said never mention him. I’d say purely a Christian invention (I’ve read Pagels’ book a long time ago) but it is possible a satan-like character was a part of the sects back at the turn of the Common Era.

Neither of our interpretations invalidates the other, or proves that the other is wrong. They are both valid within the context of their assumptions about God. It doesn’t matter to me that there is another view of God, particularly the ones posted above, or what they imply.

I never did have much respect for the “Everybody is right, nobody is wrong and everybody gets their own reality!” argument.
