Decor advice please!

So, washer leaked, tiles came up, necessitates new flooring, new machine comes in on top, all good, but this forces a LONG put off Reno to this room. But I kinda, sorta, know what I want for most of it. So the new floor is light wood, engineered floor. And the toilet and tub remain and are cream coloured.

What’s making me stumble is what colour for the walls. The cabinets and laundry stack are White, as will be the new vanity and sink. Yeah, I know they should match, but I honestly don’t care enough to change all that.

I’m keen to get it going, it’s small will be a welcome change, and won’t be much work I think! But I’m going round and round on colours and could use some input. Feel free to show me links to nice looks.

The second slight issue is the ceiling height. It’s an old oddly shaped house, this room especially! As you come through the door the ceiling is no higher than the door frame, I’m short and I can touch the ceiling! But a few steps in it opens to 9’ ceiling, with some interesting bulkheads where they converge and the washer dryer installation. It’s a bathroom so, it’s all good. But the tub and shower enclosure, standard dated style, has its own little nook, but looks odd because of the ceiling height. The proportion seems wrong somehow, not sure how to deal with it. (Hope I’ve explained it so you can picture it!) Any creative suggestion for that? I considered just raising the curtain rod up to the ceiling height but am afraid it will block too much light! Ever seen such an arrangement? Got any ideas?

My greatest fear is, in my haste to move forward, I go to the store and just pick something on a whim. This often works fine for me, but sometimes, NOT!

Thank you in advance for any and all suggestions!

Honestly, you might want to go with a white all over, given the ceiling weirdnesses. Having walls and ceiling the same color might de-emphasize those weirdnesses and transitions. (sorry for that ‘weirdnesses’ word-it’s late) Then you can bring colors and textures in with lots of fun colors via towels and curtains, bath mats, art, etc. It’s easy then to change the color in the towels, etc every few years whenever the mood strikes. That can be lots of fun. Repainting is a lot of work and expense.

I’d go to a more full service dept, like at Lowe’s or a big hardware store, and ask the experienced staff there for suggestions on the best paint, cool or warm white, etc. I have gotten great and wise help at Lowe’s, vs. Home Depot. The paint person at my Lowe’s has a PhD. in paint-at Home Depot, not so much.
